this is a beginner friendly pattern for a soot sprite pouch! it is easy to make and
there are pictures included to follow along. the pouch is perfect for storing and
carrying any small items!

• you can use the yarn and hook size of your
choice (I added my materials just for
reference on the next slide)

yarn:
i used durable cosy fine yarn (58% cotton / 42% polyacrylic)
• black
• white
• green
• yellow
• purple
• pink
• blue
optional felt (if you're not making the eyes of the soot sprite with yarn)
• black
• white
other:
• crochet hook (I used size 3.5 mm)
• stitch marker
• darning needle
• glue
• scissors

Abbreviations
terms used:
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• inc - increase
• dec - decrease
• sl st - slip stitch
• ch - chain
• fo - finish off

Pouch
pouch base (in black)
- note: you can crochet over the yarn tail in row 1,
that way there’s no need to weave it in later!
- make a slip knot and ch 19
• R1: dc 1 in the third chain from hook, dc 15, dc 3 in last ch, dc 15 on
other side of the chain, inc in last ch, sl st (36)
• R2: ch 2, inc in same st, dc 16, inc 2, dc 16, inc, sl st (40)
• R3: ch 2, inc in same st, dc 18, inc 2, dc 18 , inc, sl st (44)
• R4: ch 2, inc in same st, dc 20, inc 2, dc 20, inc, sl st (48)
• R5: ch 2, inc in same st, dc 22, inc 2, dc 22, inc, sl st (52)
• R6-10: ch 2, dc around, sl st (52) (5 rounds)
• R11: ch 2, dec, dc 22, dec 2, dc 22, dec, sl st (48)

Pouch border (in black)
• R1: ch 2, dc 1 in same st, (ch 1, skip 1 st, inc in next
st) x 15, sl st
• R2: ch 1, sc 32 (place them on top of the dc
(yellow arrow) and on the ch (pink arrow)), sl st (32)
- now it's time to make scallop borders!
• R3: ch 1, (dc 4 in next st, skip 1 st, sl st in next,
skip 1 st) x 8, sl st, FO and weave ends in

drawstring
- make a slip knot, ch 70 (or chain as many as
you want based on the size of your pouch)
- first attach your drawstring to your needle
and insert it into the pouch's border starting
from the front left
- continue inserting the drawstring around
your pouch (from front to back, and then
from the back until the front right)

stars
- next we will make the stars that are attached to
the drawstring (make two stars)
after they are finished, attach them to the
drawstrings (2 in total) - in any color
• R1: MR, (sc 1, dc 1, ch 1, dc 1) x 5, sc, sl st, FO and
weave ends in
- next we will make the other stars that are placed
on the pouch! use the same pattern as the
drawstrings ones (4 in total) - in any color

face details
eyewhites (in white) !! you can also make
- make two of them these in felt (optional)
• R1: dc 8 in MR, sl st (8)
• R2: ch 2, inc around, sl st, FO and weave
ends in (16)

eyeballs (in black)

Assembly stars

glue the eyewhites between
row 6 and row 11 glue the stars just like in the
picture (or you can be as
creative with them as you'd like!)
