Vision and Scope for ELO System Page 1

1. Business Requirements
1.1. Background
English is the international language in the world, so this is so important. There are so many
people need English for their work such as student need English to learn, businessman need
English to communication. However, not everyone has enough time and money to go to English
class or meet English teacher. So a website for learning English online is necessary for that
people. We can learn in everywhere, every time when we have free time and don’t have to pay a
lot of money for learning in English education centers.

1.2. Business Opportunity

Many people have requested a system that would permit user create a course to add the new
word they want on devices or web, can take courses created by others, save them, or copy and
modify them as user want. Such a system would save people time. People can add pictures and
reading, pronunciation of vocabulary. This will help them to remember vocabulary more easily
and for longer because images and sounds are information that the human brain can remember
longer than a long definition. And when you learn vocabulary fast, it will motivate people to
learn other parts like grammar, reading comprehension, listening effectively and quickly.

1.3. Business Objectives

BO-1: Reach 3500 registered accounts in first 6 months.
BO-2: Reached 500.000 website access or 20000 downloads in the first 6 months.
BO-3: Reach about 1000$ by advertising money per month
.

1.4. Success Metrics

SM-1: 65% of people who used the ELO at least 2 times per day during Q3 2020.
SM-2: The average rating on the quarterly NWLS satisfaction survey increases by 0.5 on a scale
of 1 to 6 from the Q3 2025 rating within 3 months following initial release and by 1.0
within 12 months.

1.5. Vision Statement

For people who want to learn and not new words or definition, the English Learning Online is an
Internet-based and smartphone-enabled application that will accept people to create new course,
add new words, add definition, add image and sound or copy course from other people and edit
as them want. Unlike learning vocabulary from books or dictionaries, it takes a lot of time and
limits the number of words. People won't have to spend time going to the bookstores. For online
or offline dictionaries, the minus point is that some dictionaries will have different definitions
and some will have no visual and audio sections, may also limit the number of vocabulary and
cannot add words. "hot words" or "local words" into memory.

1.6. Business Risks

RI-1: Too few users can use the system, reducing the return on investment from system
development. (Probability = 0.4; Impact = 3)
RI-2: Investors have no need to use the site to PR their products, reducing advertising profits.
(Probability = 0.3; Impact = 9)

1.7. Business Assumptions and Dependencies

AS-1: Systems with appropriate user interface will be optimal for user to use effectively.
AS-2: Many people will use the product, attract investors, investors will invest in ELO and help
promote ELO, through which investors will advertise their products.
DE-1: Depending on the number of people accessing the web and the number of people
downloading and accessing the application, it depends on the investors who need to use
ELO to advertise their products.
