Hypomegnesia

Hypomagnesemia is defined as serum magnesium levels falling below 0.66 mmol/L, caused by decreased magnesium supply or loss. Clinical manifestations include seizures and malabsorption syndrome, particularly in neonates, and management involves magnesium salts rather than calcium or vitamin D. Nursing management requires monitoring various physiological parameters and serum magnesium levels to prevent complications such as hypotonia and cardiac arrhythmias.
