Warm-ups:
Before every game it is very Important and crucial to warm up correctly. A warm up should take
place before training and matches.
It should be dynamic.
It should mimic and warm up the muscles that will be utilized during training/games.
Examples include:
- Squats
- Lunges
- High knees
- Butt kicks
- Open gate
- Close gate
- Donkey kicks
- Fire hydrants
- Mini sprints
Cool-downs:
It is vital that you cool down to prevent Injury and give your body the proper recovery after
training/games.
It should be static.
Dribbling:
Steps:
1) Make gentle contact with the ball. Every time you contact the ball in soccer, it's called a “touch.”
By using gentle touches, you contact the ball more often, which will slow you down initially, but as
you get used to making more contact with the ball, it will allow you to advance quickly, but with
more control over the ball. The more your foot touches the ball, the more control you have over the
ball's movement.
2) Keep the ball close to your feet. Keep your knees bent as you pass the ball back and forth
between the insides of your feet. Against an opponent, your body should be between the defender
and the ball. According to (OnlineSoccerSkills.Com, 2021), you'll also be able to change direction
faster. When you keep the ball close to your feet, defenders have a more difficult time intercepting
the ball.
3) Use the leading part of the foot to dribble galloping. Gallop with the same foot forward every
time you step forward. This keeps the ball close to your foot at all times. Keep the leading edge of
your foot forward as you're running. This keeps contact between the ball and the leading edge of
your foot, giving you the most speed and balance. This doesn't apply to making cuts, stops, direction
changes, etc. This is just for moving the ball downfield with as much speed and control as possible.
4) Keep the ball in the lower edge of your peripheral vision. Beginners, especially, tend to use most
of their field of vision on the ball as they develop dribbling skills. Instead, you should practice
keeping the ball at the bottom of your peripheral vision as early in the learning process as possible.
By keeping the ball in your lower field of vision, you can more easily maintain awareness of the rest
of the field. This can help you see holes in defences, open teammates, scoring positions, etc
5) Change the pace. Proceeding in an easily predictable manner is the easiest way to get hung up by
a defender. Practice changes in your dribbling pace. This way, you can more fluidly change pace in
confusing ways on the field to throw defenders off balance.
Tackling:
According to (Harves, 2021), tackling is an important skill in football regardless of your playing
position. Tackles are used to regain possession of the ball for your team and are sometimes seen as
critical particularly in defensive positions when the opponent are in an offensively advantageous
position.
Standing Tackle:
This tackle is very useful when the attacker comes directly toward the defender, especially when
space is limited as in a crowded space. This tackle is a powerful movement, and when effectively
used, not only stops the attacker but gives the defender a reasonable chance of winning possession.
Sliding Tackle
• Turn your body into a position which will force the attacker to be where you want him to be.
Remember to keep your eye on the ball moving towards you.
• Get ready. Once you're ready, lean back to ensure your whole body is as far as possible.
• Place your strong foot in front of the area in which the attacker is dribbling.
Shooting:
Steps:
You have look up to pick out your target and then look back to the football as you actually shoot.
This is because it is virtually impossible to strike the ball correctly if you’re not looking at it.
If you plant your foot behind the ball your kicking foot is coming up as you strike. This will result in a
chip shot. You need to practice running step how to plant your non-shooting leg to put on the right
place for right shots. Repeat the step slowly and quickly.
You point the target of the ball. Like touching the middle area of the ball, you have to focus to
impact the spot point out of the middle of the ball.
This technique determines the correct body position. Like running or riding the bike, you keep the
balance of body and flexible rhythm for power.
Goalkeeping:
Some of the most notable things are as follows (according to the 2020/2021 Laws of the
Game):
Goalies may take penalty kicks, and they are allowed to participate in penalty shootouts.
Outside the penalty area, goalies have the same restrictions regarding ball handling as other
players.
• The ball is between their hands, between their hand or any other surface, or is
touched by any part of the goalie’s hands or arms. This excludes when the
goalkeeper made a save or when the ball rebounds from them.
• The goalie is bouncing the ball on the ground or throwing it in the air.
Goalkeepers can’t be challenged by an opponent while in control of the ball with the hands.
During penalty kicks, until the ball is kicked, the goalie must remain on the goal line between
the goalposts, facing the kicker and without touching the goalposts, crossbar, or the net.
Keepers aren’t allowed to control the ball with a hand or arm for more than 6 seconds inside
their penalty area.
Goalkeepers aren’t allowed to touch the ball with their hand or arm after releasing it and
before another player touches it.
Keepers aren’t allowed to handle the ball if it has been deliberately kicked to them by a
teammate.
