Contention refers to access to the medium from multiple entry points, managed by a contention protocol known as Random Access Protocol. In this method, each station can access the medium independently, but conflicts may arise if multiple stations attempt to send data simultaneously, leading to collisions. The main Random Access Protocol methods include ALOHA, CSMA, CSMA/CD, and CSMA/CA.

Random Access Protocol Or Contention Methods
Access to the medium from many entry points is called contention. It is
controlled with a contention protocol .It is otherwise called as Random Access Protocol. In a random-access method, each station has the right to the medium without being controlled by other station. However if more than one station tries to send, there is an access conflict, (i.e) collision and the frames will be either destroyed or modified. Randam Access protocol Methods are 1. ALOHA 2. CSMA 3. CSMA/CD 4. CSMA/CA
