101 - Vision and Scope

The document outlines the vision and scope for a management system aimed at modernizing a Chinese restaurant's operations by replacing a paper-based system with a locally hosted software solution. The system will manage both dine-in and online orders, involve multiple user types (cashiers, kitchen staff, waiters, and managers), and ensure data security and performance tracking. Key features include order management, user access permissions, and a stable network setup for reliable operations.

Vision

The vision of the system is to modernize and streamline the restaurant's operations by

replacing the current paper-based system with a more efficient, locally hosted software solution.

This software should be able to seamlessly manage both dine-in and online orders, improve

communication between cash registers, chefs, waitstaff, and managers, and provide reliable

tracking and management tools for the restaurant's daily operations.

Scope

1. A locally hosted system with a local server to synchronize data between multiple

computers, including cash register workstations and kitchen workstations.

2. User types: Four main user types—cashiers, kitchen staff, waiters, and managers—each

with different system access permissions.

3. Cashiers can create, modify, query, and delete dine-in or takeout orders, use the POS

machine or cash register, and use the printer to print receipts.

4. Kitchen staff can prepare dishes based on orders and change the dish status to

"completed" or "cancelled."

5. Waiters can view the dishes ordered for each dine-in table or takeout order.

6. Managers can view all orders and generate reports. Manager accounts can manage other

user account types.

7. The processing speed of each order is recorded for performance management

improvement.

8. All data modification operations are logged for easier management.

9. The server and client are connected via wired network for stability.
2
10. The server and the restaurant’s customer Wi-Fi network are separated to ensure data

security.

11. The server is set up in a safe environment free from oil smoke.

12. Each user type can log in at either the kitchen workstation or the cash register

workstation, but only the cash register workstation can print receipts and interact with the POS

machine for transactions.
