STEP 1

Framing The Floor


1.1 Assemble the frame using 1 1/2” x 5 1/2” pressure-treated material. You will need two boards
cut to 11’ that will be the rim joist and two boards cut to 3'-11 3/4” that will be the joist.

1.2 Secure the beams with 3x5" wood screws.

1.3 Using a speed square or carpenter's square, check the corners to make sure they are 90 degrees.

STEP 2

Assemble The Wall Studs


2.1 Using 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" pressure-treated material, cut four 7’ studs and four 6’
studs and then assemble them using the illustration below as a reference.

2.2 Use 4x5” wood screws to secure the studs to the bottom frame.

2.3 Make sure the corners are 90 degrees using a carpenter’s square or speed square.

STEP 3

Assemble The Top Girts


3.1 Using 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" pressure-treated material, cut girts and assemble using the illustrations
below as a reference.

3.2 Secure the beams and studs with 2x5" wood screws.

3.3 Using a speed square or carpenter's square, check the corners to make sure they are 90 degrees.

Assemble The Roof Frame


4.1 Prepare 12 rafters with cross-section 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" (node A on page 17.

4.2 Connect the beams with 2x3" wood screws.

as a reference.

5.2 Secure the joists to the bottom frame with 4x5" wood screws.

7.1 Using 3 1/2 “ x 3 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, cut one girt and attach it using the illustration
below as a reference.

STEP 9

Framing The Back Wall


9.1 Using 1 1/2 “ x 3 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, cut a rough sill and window header and secure
them using 5” wood screws and the illustration below as a reference.

10.1 Using 3 1/2 “ x 3 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, cut a cross brace and attach it using the
illustration below as a reference.

STEP 11

Install Plywood For The Roof


11.1 Cut sheets of 9/16” plywood for sheathing the roof using the drawing below as a guide.

11.2 Secure the plywood with 2" wood screws.

STEP 12

Nesting Box Assemble


12.1 Using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ material, assemble the frame for the nesting boxes using the illustration
below as a guide. Make sure to take note of the 9 degree slope needed for the roof of the nesting boxes.

12.2 Cover the top and bottom of the nesting boxes with 9/16” plywood and secure with 2” wood screws.

12.3 Prepare and install starter courcer from the pressure-treated lumber with cross section 1/4" x 3/4".
Prepare the 1/2" x 6" wood siding boards in the required amount according to the drawing. Cut the shield's
top part according to the angle of rafter slope. Assemble siding shields with 2" galvanized nails to the
frame beams.

12.4 Prepare wall's trims from the boards with a cross-section of 3/4" x 1"; 3/4" x 2 1/2"; 3/4" x 3".
Cut the boards at the required angles along the siding contour for the framing.

12.5 Assemble the door frame using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ material according to the illustration.

12.6 Install two 3" door hinges using 6x1" wood screws. Finish the door installation by attaching
4" surface bolt and 6" door pull.

12.7 Cover the roof of the nesting boxes with corrugated roof panels and secure with 1 1/2 “ sheet metal
screws and neoprene washers.

12.8 Install nest box assembles with the help of two 1 1/2 “ x 4 1/4 “ x 4 3/4 “ corner braces and 1" wood
screws. Use Node G as a guide. Connect the box frame and coop's frame by 5" wood screws.

STEP 13

Coop's Roost Assembly


13.1 Using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, make the roost frame using the illustration
below as a guide and secure with 3” wood screws.

13.2 For the stairs, you will need 1 1/2 “ x 1 1/2 “ pressure-treated material. Using the
illustration as a reference, secure the stairs with 2” wood screws.

STEP 14

Assemble and Install Coop Doors


14.1 Build the door frame for the coop using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ pressure-treated material and secure
with 5” wood screws.

14.2 Use 1 1/2 “ x 3/4 “ pressure-treated material for the door trim and fasten with 2” wood screws.

14.3 Using 1/4 “ x 3/4 “ pressure-treated material, cut and install a starter courcer.

14.4 For the exterior siding on the door, use 1/2 “ x 6” wood siding boards and the illustration below
as a reference.

14.5 Assemble siding shields with 2" galvanized nails.

14.6 Install three 3" door hinges using 2x1" wood screws. Finish the door installation by attaching 4"
surface bolt and 6" door pulls (see nodes K, L, M).

STEP 15

Window Installation
15.1 Use 1 1/2 “ x 1 1/2 “ pressure-treated material to assemble the frame for the
windows. Cut the beams to connect them in the centre.

15.2 Prepare 1/4" wire mesh for window according to the dimensions.

STEP 16

Aviary's Mesh Wall Installation


16.1 Prepare 1/4" wire mesh in the required quantity and install it on the inner side of the
frames with the help of industrial stapler.

STEP 17

Installing Corrugated Roofing


17.1 You will need 105 Sq. Ft. of corrugated roofing panels to cover your coop.

17.2 Fasten the panels with 1 1/2" sheet metal screw with neoprene washer.

17.3 Prepare and install metal roof ridge caps according to the drawing.

STEP 18

Final touches

Now that your coop is all done, you are ready to decorate it any way you want using your
favorite paint, stain, or preservative.
