Grade 11 FIRST TERM EXAMINATION -2023 Max Marks: 70

Date: 01-06-2023 PHYSICS Time: 3 Hrs


[The time stated above is the time allowed for writing the examination. In addition, the
first 15 minutes will be the time given for reading the question paper.]

All the questions are compulsory.


This question paper is divided into 4 sections A, B C& D as follows:

Consists of one question having sub-parts of one mark each.

Section B: [14 Marks ]


Question numbers 2 to 8 carry 2 marks each with TWO Questions having internal
choice.

Section C: [27 Marks]


Question number 9 to 17 carry 3 marks each with TWO questions having internal
choice.

Section D: [15 Marks]


Question numbers 18 to 20 are long answer type questions and carry 5 marks each.
Each question has an internal choice.

Answer all questions.

In a series of successive measurements in an experiment, the readings of the period of


oscillation of a simple pendulum were found to be 2.603 s, 2.56 s, 2.58 s, 2.71 s
and 2.86 s. Calculate the mean value of the period of oscillation with respect to suitable
significant figures.

What are dimensionless quantities. Give an example.

The velocity v of a particle depends upon the time ‘t’ according to the equation:

Horizontal range of a projectile is 4√3 times its maximum height. Find the angle of
projection.

b) Messi hits a football with a speed 18 ms-1 at an angle of 36° with respect to
horizontal direction. The goal post is at a distance of 30 m from him. Calculate the

i) maximum height attained by the ball.


ii) range of football.
iii) will the ball reach the goal post?

OR

c) An object is thrown with an initial velocity ‘u’ making an angle ‘θ’ with the
horizontal in the X-Y plane. With a neat, labelled diagram, obtain an expression for

Question 19
a) With neat, labelled diagram, obtain an expression for the magnitude and direction of
the resultant of the two vectors P and Q inclined at an angle ‘θ’. [5]

b) Using calculus method, derive the following equation of motion for the uniformly
accelerated bodies. [2+3]

i) v= u + at
ii) v2= u2 + 2as, where symbols have their usual notations

Question 20 [5]

a) using the method of dimensional analysis, convert value of G from cgs system
into S I system. [ G = 6.67x10-8 dyne cm2g-2]

OR

b) The force ‘F’ acting on a body moving in a circular path depends on mass ’m’ of
the body, velocity ’v’ and radius ‘r’ of the circular path. Obtain an expression for
the force using the method dimensions. [k=1]
