Exercise 1. Read and translate the text.


It’s nice to meet you

Hello! Let me introduce you myself and my sister Caroline. We are from Egypt.
We are learning English language in London. My name’s Jasmine and I’m a nurse.
I’m 28 years old. I’m married. I want to learn English because it’s an international
language. I need it for my future job.
This is my sister Caroline. She is 17 years old. She is a student. Caroline studies
at the Medical University.

Exercise 2. Spelling names. Read and practice saying the dialogue.


A: What’s your name? B: I’m Sarah Conner.
A: Is that S-A-R-A-H? B: Yes, that’s right.
A: How do you spell your last name? C-O-N-N-O-R? B: No, it’s C-O-N-N-

Full form Contraction
I am your teacher. I’m your teacher.

They are teachers. They’re teachers.

Present tense verb ‘to be’


♦ Use capital I. I’m your teacher. NOT i’m.
♦ you = singular and plural.
♦ Use he for a man, she for a woman, and it for a thing.
♦ Use they for people and things.
♦ Use contractions in conversation.
