SCM Sealing Flameproof, Exd, IIC

Compound Mixture Zone 1

Application:

SCM Sealing Compound forms a seal
around each electrical conductor and
between them and inside of the
sealing fitting to restrict the passage
of gases, vapours or flames through
the sealing fitting at atmospheric
pressure and at normal ambient
temperatures

Features:
• SCM 200 Sealing Compound is
packaged in two-compartment plastic
pouch with precise amount of fluid for
mixing. No mixing or measuring
implements required. A hard squeeze
of the fluid compartment forces the
fluid into the compartment containing
the silica compound. Mixing is
completed by kneading the pouch for
one minute. The mixed sealing
compound is poured directly into the
sealing fitting - no funnel required.
The package label indicates the size
and quantity of sealing fittings each
pouch will properly fill.
• More economical for larger
applications, the SCM1600 is
supplied in two separate containers,
one carrying the powder, the other
the liquid. A total of 1.6kg of mixed
compound is obtainable. Full mixing
and pouring instructions supplied with
each container set.

Standard Packages:
• The SCM200 comprises a 200g
ready-to-mix package capable of
filling a volume of 64ml
• The SCM1600 comprises two
containers whose combined net
weight is 1.6kg giving a mixture
capable of filling a volume of 512ml

The TWAB cable gland is designed for easy installation in Zone 1, Exd, Group IIC and Zone 21 & 22 hazardous locations.
The integral epoxy seal prevents the propagation of an explosion from inside an enclosure to the outside environment
through the cable jacket and armour. The sealing compound is easy to measure, mix, and install. Installation is quick
because damming is not required - the compound is kneaded until a uniform colour is obtained and is then packed around
the conductors to effectively seal the cable.

locations. It is designed to maintain the integrity of the enclosure should an internal explosion occur.
This cable gland incorporates three elastomeric seals which provide a high degree of ingress protection to ensure a
safe installation in hazardous & adverse environments.
