1-2 Products
ATAL Series
ATAL Series are flat-panel digital detector. A built-in a-Si TFT flat panel type digital sensor receives
X-ray and converts to digital image. X-ray photons are converted to digital output signals. The digital
signals are then read out by TFTs. The image data file is saved at the computer for display, which
can be linked with PACS and printed by DICOM printer through acquisition software.

*ONLY EXAMPLE (The figure may be different from the user’s computer.)
Before installing the workstation computer, it is necessary to install LAN card and serial card first in
the computer. It is possible to check empty slots if you open the case of the computer. Precisely
install LAN card and serial card in PCIe slots.
Caution.
- ATAL Series system requires two PCIe slots. Check the number of PCIe slots since
some computers have only one PCIe slot, when purchasing a workstation computer.
- The insecure installation of the cards may cause malfunction of the system.
- For dual system users, the computer should be installed with two different LAN cards.
16 Rev. 00

Tip.
For manual mode, it is recommended that ATCB1717 is installed at a location closed to
a generator.
Caution.
Be sure that the connection part (25pin D-sub) of the data cable may pass through into
the console room.
The user may request the installation type of ATAL Series among standard, cable free and dual type.
Standard installation is basic module and this is for only one set of ATAL Series. This option is best
for ATAL Series to be fixed.
Put ATAL Series in the Bucky underneath the table or in the stand Bucky.

Auto Mode
The detector automatically captures X-ray without interface to the generator in the auto mode. With
this mode, no extra equipment is required when upgrading an existing X-ray system with ATAL Series.
LED indicator for auto mode shows X-ray exposure timing in ATAL Series.
1st DR: This indicates ATAL Series is working normally, and flickering light means there is an
incoming image. The indicating lights will be turned off after the completion of image creation.
Ready: This indicates ATAL Series is in preparation. While this light is on, the user may not obtain an
image, thus do not expose X-ray. Indicating time is approximately 1 second.
Exposure: This indicates ATAL Series is ready to be exposed to X-ray; the light will blink when
exposure time left 3 seconds. At this moment it is not possible to obtain an image, therefore do not
expose X-ray. Indication time can be modified by user preferences.
2nd DR: This indicator only functions when second detector is connected, and represents that second
instrument is working normally. It has exactly same functions as 1st DR.
Tip.
No hand switch or generator connection is needed for auto mode.
28 Rev. 00
Manual for ATAL series
Manual Mode
Manual mode requires the detector and X-ray generator coupled. If interlocking system is requested,
sync cable should be set up in between generator and LED indicator. The indicator in manual mode is
the indication of X-ray system condition.
Comparing to auto mode, LED indicator in manual mode works differently since manual mode is
coupled with generator.
1st DR: This indicates ATAL Series is connected normally, and there is an incoming image when
flickering. Light will disappear afterwards the completion of image processing.
Ready: This will automatically be turned on at the same the user engage ready button on the console
pad or hand switch.
Exposure: This indicator will be turned on by engaging exposure switch on console pad or hand
switch. Ready light will engage at the same time.
29 Rev. 00
Manual for ATAL series
It is necessary to produce sync cable and hand switch cable as manual mode is linked with X-ray
generator. However, ATLAIM provides both sync cable and hand switch cable for customers’
convenience, and easier and quicker installation. The pin-function of generator and hand switch cable
is same, see instruction below for installation.

Calibration
Caution.
Allow at least 30 minutes to warm up for the maximum performance of instrument.
ATAL Series requires calibration data for best quality imaging. An optimal calibration data for ATAL
Series has been provided on the ATAL CD. In case of lost or broken ATAL CD, however, the user
may perform calibration with ATAL Manager.
The calibration data destination folder varies depending on what acquisition program the user utilizes.
Check the destination folder first when creating calibration data.
Caution.
Both ‘ATAL.ini’ file and the calibration data must be saved in the same folder. Otherwise,
ATAL Series will not be able to read the calibration data. For more information for
‘ATAL.ini’ file, see Appendix: 1. ‘ATAL.ini’ file setting & 2. ‘FGA’ setting.
Tip.
These calibration data creation instructions are not necessary for the user who uses the
calibration data provided.
If there is no calibration data in the designated destination, the warning message above
will show up.

After calibration, copy BPM file from ATAL CD to the following folder –
“C://DR_Data/Calibration”.
In case the user perform MAKE BPM, there might be the deterioration of image quality.
Tip.
If there is a visible line on the image, performing 5-minute calibration is recommended.
Turn off ATAL Series and turn it on again after 1 hour.

Check List
Tips Check the green color LED light at the front of ATCB1717.
If the light is turned off, assure the power cord is in place correctly.
Consuming power should be 55W +/- 15%.
If you still have the light turned off even though all problems are solved, consult with our
friendly technical support team.
Tips Check network driver version and network speed at network connection in the control
panel.
If the speed of network is not faster than 1 gigabit, see Chapter. 3-1 Network
Adapter Setting.
Should you still have lower speed than 1 gigabit, please contact the technical support
team.

Appendix 4 : Ground
If the ground system has been installed inadequately in a hospital building, the user may feel the
electricity leakage on the detector. To solve this issue, the ground installation should be performed on
the X-Ray system is necessary.
(The ground cable which is manufactured by “IEC 60227-3 450/750V” standard should be utilized.)
Ungrounded Grounded
Find a ground terminal first. There is the ground terminal installed in the socket for the recent
buildings, but there might be no ground terminal installed for the old buildings. If there is no possible
terminal, please look for main power supply for the X-Ray system rather than the socket.

Normal ground
Ungrounded
For normal ground condition, the alternating current voltage should be measured as above – one will
be measured as almost 220V and the other will be almost 0.

measured.
