MCC | Hands On 1 | Step 3 - Test Integration

Approx. time = 15 mins

1. Outline
In order to verify that your integration setup is working we will execute a simple email send to the audience report that
you prepared in Step 1 exercise. You'll need to create an email template and simple email from that template. Using
this email you'll execute the send from CRM.

2. Setup Creative Assets

We prepared some simple content for you to use along side with the new template. Feel free to extend those if you get
into the mood while you are configuring them.
NB: if you are continuing your learning journey from CJB workshop using same learning account then the template should be
already configured in your account and you can skip right to the Email Creation.

2.1 EMAIL TEMPLATE

Let's start with configuration of the email template that will be used for this exercise. The steps below can be
accomplished from Email Studio > Email > Content section or within Content Builder.

Navigate to Content Builder > Content Builder and under the LOCAL > Local Folders > Content Builder create new
folder called MCC Hands On 1. Create HTML Paste template using the code from the following snippet: rav-email-
template. Save the template naming it RAV - Email Template.

2.2 INTEGRATION TEST EMAIL

Using RAV- Email Template create an email in the same folder naming it MCC - Integration Test and set following
subject value:

Subject = Your integration and personalization now works! It really does :)

Preheader = Check the personalization in the content

We'll use HTML block from the Basic Content, dragging it into the main content placeholder of the email. Paste the
following code snippet into the editor mcc-integration-test-email and click Done Editing. Click Save and Exit to save
and close the email.
3. Send Test Email
We've configured couple of custom fields for Contact and Lead objects in CRM and this email send besides functional
integration test will also validate if these were correctly configured. On the Marketing Cloud side the configuration was
done as follows:

Profile Attributes:

● First Name (standard field)

Preference Attributes:

● Alerts Optin (custom field)

● Newsletter Optin (custom field)

Note: due to how our training account being an Enterprise 2.0 the above attributes have been already created and
mapped for you. And therefore you should be able to just send the email and see the results.

Now using the report you created as a part of the provisioning exercise we'll deploy the test message to the report.

1. In the Sales or Service Cloud, click Marketing Cloud tab.

2. Use Find to select the MCC - Integration Test email built in the above steps.
3. Click Recipients.
4. Click Reports.
5. Click + to search for the MC Integration - Test Leads report created for this test.
6. Click + to add to Recipients.
7. Select the report you just created.
8. Select your email address for the From email address list.
9. Consider whether or not you want to de-select or select “De-dupe subscribers” option.
10. Select the Opt-In checkbox.
11. Send the email.
12. Review tracking results.
13. Review the email to verify the personalization was passed correctly.
