Letter of Recommendation
Nikhil worked with me in the Product Team at #fame for a year. His work during this period was stellar and one of
the most significant individual contributions across the company and not just the Product team. He combines an
urgency for execution with a breadth of vision that belies his age. His understanding of the Technology ecosystem
and User requirements is fantastic. He brings a lot of skills to the table that cannot be taught. He is self-driven,
entrepreneurial in nature who has trained himself to perform with or without supervision, individually and within
teams.
At #fame initially the lines of his role were blurred and both of us were operating together to manage product, user
acquisition and analytics. He managed to deliver great results across all the three functions in sync with each other
inspite of the variety of tasks assigned to him and pressure within the company. On an average day he was working
with ad networks, getting designs for UI, getting stickers made from design agency on one hand and manage the
engineering team, use analytics to draw conclusions on the other- that requires a lot of different parts of the brain.
His ability to draw insights using data is incredible, after every release cycle it didn’t take him more than 24 hours to
figure what improvements are needed in the next release. His prioritization of tasks keeping the different aspects in
mind vis a vis- engineering, business goals and urgency is on point. Right after the first release of the app, he noticed
that our drop rate was 90% and it would cause a lot of loss since we were spending thousands of dollars every day
on acquiring users, he prioritized the task immediately over other features and bought down the drop rate to 60%
within one release cycle.
His ability to break down problems in logical solvable parts, to think in a structure and to connect the dots is
commendable. This ability helped us not only to get down to root of the problems very fast but also to convince the
upper management on the plans we presented them. We had been planning to launch the gamification feature on
the app, and the entire management was breaking their heads on the algorithm for weeks. Initially Nikhil was not
involved in the process since he had recently joined the company, but once we briefed him and had a brainstorming
session we had a solution in two hours. That moment on, he was included in all the meetings and reported along
with me to the global CEO of the company on product and analytics.
His emotional quotient is very high for a person his age and this is another reason he is able to build great products-
he puts a lot of empathy and intuitiveness into it. This also helps him run meetings very effectively especially when
there are lot of senior people involved. He took a lot of initiatives by himself not just with the product but all other
departments to make things far better and presented ideas to all team leaders. Nikhil proved himself to be a strong
cultural fit at #fame. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his teammates/subordinates and contributed
during brainstorming sessions and meetings fare more than expected.
Nikhil’s oral and written English communication skills are super, his presentation of ideas is crystal clear. He is always
on the lookout for feedback and interacts with set of selected trustworthy individuals on his weaknesses and how to
improve them. He has also been regularly in touch with me after moving on from #fame and has been discussing the
challenges he is facing with his current venture- Troope. He still needs to {insert some weakness which you believe I
will improve in B School}
He will be a huge asset to any team that he works with or leads. He has told me about the reasons he wants to do
the tech MBA at Cornell and I believe they are in-line with his long-term goals of building products of the future. He
is specifically excited about the studio program since he will get to work on products with the brightest engineers
across the globe, something which he has not been able to do so. This is the right platform for him to develop his
abilities and network further. I strongly recommend him for this program at Cornell University. He will be a stalwart
addition to Cornell.
