DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
This is a group assignment. All group members are expected to participate the
presentation and explain their assignment in detail individually & showcasing why it was
chosen and how it enhances interactivity. Groups will be required to briefly explain their
Excel formulas, functions and logic during the presentation. Each group member should
be prepared to describe at least one aspect of their web development process. Groups may
be asked follow-up questions during their presentation about their work to ensure they
understand their own submissions.
1) Assignment Overview:
In this assignment, you will work in groups of three to prepare and deliver a 10-12 minutes
presentation on a specific topic related to Management Information Systems. The presentation
should include practical applications of the topic using:
1. Excel Usage: Groups should demonstrate how Excel can be utilized in business contexts
related to their topic.
2. HTML Web Page Design: Groups should create an interactive webpage that includes (but
not limited to):
- Images
- Embedded videos
- Interactive elements (e.g., content revealed on click)
3. Topic-Specific Content: Each group is assigned a topic from the course syllabus. The
presentation must demonstrate a clear understanding of the assigned topic, supported by real-
world applications.
4. Secondary Data Sources: Groups must incorporate data from reputable sources such as:
- World Bank (https://data.worldbank.org/)
- Statista (https://www.statista.com/)
- OECD Data (https://data.oecd.org/)
5. Academic Research Requirement: Each group must cite at least three academic research
articles related to their topic, sourced from Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/).

2) Assignment Requirements:
Each group must submit and present the following components:
1. Presentation (10-12 minutes):
- Overview of the assigned topic (by providing references)
- Explanation of key concepts starting with creation of a research question by group members
with the given topic related with Management Information Systems (by providing references**)
**Academic Sources: Conduct thorough research using peer-reviewed articles, books,
and academic databases to establish a strong theoretical foundation for your topic (Cite
and discuss relevant academic research to support your findings and arguments).
**Practical Sources: Explore relevant case studies, industry reports, and news articles
to gain insights into real-world practices.
**Real-Life Examples: Identify and analyze specific examples of Management
Information Systems topics that illustrate your topic.
- Demonstration of Excel usage related to the topic (Supported with the screenshots from
excel sheets showing the formulas used. Groups should explain why they selected a specific
analysis method and discuss alternative approaches.)
- Showcase of an interactive HTML web page incorporating topic-related information
(Please add the screenshot of the webpage to your presentation.)
2. Excel Component:
- Use Excel to analyze or visualize data relevant to the assigned topic.
- Include tables, charts, pivot tables or formulas that enhance understanding using data from
secondary data sources.
- Show how Excel supports decision-making processes in business.
3. HTML Web Page Component:
- Develop an interactive webpage with at least one image, one embedded video, and one
interactive element (e.g., a button that reveals content when clicked). These content must be
related with the given topic of your group work.
Explanation of Features for the Webpage (advised specially to strengthen your work):
Page Color & Styling: Customize the page with colors, fonts, and layouts that
enhance the visual appeal and match the assigned topic.
Group Member Information: Include a section that introduces the group
members, showcasing their names, roles, and a short bio.
Interactive Content: Add interactive elements such as hover effects,
expandable sections, or navigation menus to engage users.
Multimedia Integration: Ensure that you embed both an image and a video
related to your topic to provide a richer user experience.
- Explanation Section: Please do not forget to include a section in your presentation and
report where you explain the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code used to create the
webpage. This will demonstrate your understanding of web development.
- Provide a breakdown of your coding approach, how you structured the page, and the logic
behind interactive elements (e.g., how the "reveal content" button works with JavaScript)
in your presentation and report.

Example: For instance, if your topic is "Global E-Commerce & Collaboration,"
1) Your presentation can include the basic requirements (Same as explained in Assignment
Requirements)
2) Your excel file could include (but not limited to):
A dataset analyzing global e-commerce trends.
A pivot table comparing regional e-commerce growth rates.
A forecast function predicting future digital sales.
A column chart visualizing key market trends.
3) Your page could include:
An image of the global digital marketplace.
A video explaining e-commerce trends.
A button that reveals further statistics on e-commerce market growth when clicked.
Group member information with the profile pictures (real pictures or imaginary content)
4) Your report needs to include:
A summary of your research and findings.
A detailed explanation of how Excel was used.
A breakdown and explanation of the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code used in the
webpage.
References to academic sources and industry reports.
3) Submission Requirements
Please name each file with your Group Number and related file name, for example: “Group1-
Presentation, Group 1-Excel File, Group 1-HTML, Group 1-Report.”
