Causative form (Have/ get something done)

We use have+ object+ past participle to say that we arrange for someone else to do
something for us.

Ex: Jim had the tap fixed. Jim arranged for the plumber to fix the tap. (he didn’t do it
himself- the plumber did it for him)

Present Simple:

Subject+ has/ have+ object+ p.p

Ex: She cleans the house.

→She has the house cleaned.

Past simple:

Subject+ had+ object+ p.p

Ex: She cleaned the house.

→She had the house cleaned.

Present Continuous:

Subject+ am/is/ are + having+ object+ p.p

Ex: She is cleaning the house.

→She is having the house cleaned.

Past Continuous:

Subject+ was/ were+ having+ object+ p.p

Ex: She was cleaning the house.

→She was having the house cleaned.

Present Perfect:

Subject+ has/ have+ had+ object+ p.p

Ex: She has cleaned the house.

→ She has had the house cleaned

Past Perfect:

Subject+ had+ had+ object+ p.p

Ex: She had cleaned the house.

→ She had had the house cleaned

Future Simple:

Subject+ will have+ object+ p.p

Ex: She will clean the house.

→ She will have the house cleaned.

Future Continuous:

Subject+ will be having+ object+ p.p

Ex: She will be cleaning the house.

→ She will be having the house cleaned.
