Top Tips for Revising

We all learn in different ways. Try and find the best way that works for you.
Here are some ideas that you can try:

• Mind-Mapping (see below for more details).

• Flashcards (great for learning key words).
• Practice Questions (to help build up your confidence).
• Make a Revision Plan (a little a day keeps the worries away!)

Introduction to Python Memory Map

Follow these simple steps to use this very effective way of revising and learning:

1. Get a piece of plain A4 paper (any paper will do if you haven’t any A4).
2. Turn the paper on its side (landscape orientation).
3. On the centre of the page, write “Python Programming” (write small).
4. Time yourself for 3 minutes: write down everything you can remember about this topic. Link up
words or ideas that are connected in some way.
5. After 3 minutes stop and take a look at what you have written. Are you surprised at how much
(or how little) you could remember?
6. Now look at the Introduction to Python Memory Map on the other side of this sheet to refresh
your memory.
7. Turn your A4 paper over and repeat step 4 above once more.
8. Has your Memory Map improved? Hopefully it has!
9. Pin the Introduction to Python Memory Map on your bedroom wall or somewhere that you will
see it often.
10. In a couple of days, repeat step 4 again. You’ll be amazed at how much you can remember!

Introduction to Python Flashcards

Ask your teacher for the Introduction to Python Flashcards
to take home. You can use these like playing cards, and
they are great for learning with a friend. Take it in turns to
turn the cards over and see who can remember the most
number of definitions.
