Best known for his 12-line verse entitled Trees." Alfred Joyce Kilmer was an American
writer and poet. He was born on December 6, 1886, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In
1911, Kilmer published his first poetry collection, ASummer of Love (The Baker & Poems are made by fools like me,
Taylor Company). His most famous poem, Trees," appeared in Poetry magazine in
1913. His books include Trees and Other Poems (1914): The Circus and Other Essays But only God can make a tree.
(1916); Main Street and Other Poems (1917).
Kilmer loved writing poetry more than anything else. It is for Trees' that Kilmer is Jovce Kilmer robin /'rob1n/ noun :a small brown bird with a red breast
