Categories of Keyboard Keys and Their Functions
1. Alphanumeric Keys
Definition:
These include all the letters (A–Z) and numbers (0–9) on the main part of the keyboard.
Function:
Used to input text, numbers, and basic characters. Combined with Shift, they allow
uppercase letters or symbols.
A–Z, 0–9: Used for typing letters and numbers.
Shift: Capitalizes letters and accesses secondary functions on other keys.
Caps Lock: Toggles capitalization for all letters.
Tab: Indents or navigates between fields.
Enter (Return): Executes commands or creates a new line.
Backspace: Deletes the character before the cursor.
Spacebar: Adds space between words.
Definition:
Located at the top of the keyboard, labeled F1 to F12.
Function:
Perform special tasks depending on the software:

3. Modifier Keys
Definition:
Keys that modify the action of other keys when pressed together
Ctrl (Control): Used in combination for shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl+C).
Alt (Alternate): Used in combinations, especially Alt+Tab or Alt+F4.
Shift: Capital letters / symbols.
Windows Key (⊞ Win): Opens Start Menu or Windows-specific shortcuts.
Fn (Function): Accesses extra hardware functions (brightness, volume).
4. Navigation Keys
Definition:
Keys that move the cursor or scroll through documents/pages.
Arrow Keys: Move the cursor or scroll directionally.
Home: Moves cursor to beginning of line/document.
End: Moves to end of line/document.
Page Up: Scrolls one screen up.
Page Down: Scrolls one screen down.
Insert: Toggles between insert and overwrite modes.
Delete (Del): Deletes the character after the cursor.
5. Control Keys
Definition:
Used to control certain functions in applications or the system.
Esc (Escape): Cancels operations or exits menus.
Print Screen (PrtScn): Captures screen content.
Scroll Lock: Rarely used, was for toggling scroll behavior.
Pause/Break: Rarely used, legacy key.
6. Special Keys
Definition:
Additional keys for enhanced features and user control.
Num Lock: Enables number pad usage.
AltGr: Used to type alternate characters (common in non-English layouts).
Menu Key: Opens context menu (right-click alternative).
Multimedia Keys: Control volume, playback, etc. (on modern keyboards).
