Lesson delivery
1. Teacher introduces the topic: "My Week" and display the days of the week on
the board.
2. Teacher plays a short-recorded story or read aloud about a character's weekly
ACTIVITY routine.
3. Teacher gives pupils cut-out cards of days and activities.
4. Play an audio recording (or read sentences) about someone’s weekly activities.
5. Pupils arrange the cards in order based on what they hear.
6. In pairs, one pupil describes their week without showing their written schedule.
7. The partner listens and writes down the activities in the correct days.
Post-lesson
Play the song from Activity 1 (CD 1 - Track 3) and have pupils sing along in groups.

3. Say each day slowly and clearly, and students write them down. Teacher

Lesson delivery
1. Teacher asks pupils to think about other insects that are suitable to replace the
bumble bee (e.g. wasp, hummingbird, etc.) in the poem.
2. In group, pupils underline the words and change the words ( i.e. name of the
insect, characteristic (e.g the oh – so – busy butterfly) to create their own stanza

(or stanzas if they can do more than one stanza).
3. Give pupils a worksheet with questions like: "Find someone who goes to the
park on Sunday."
4. Upon completion, pupils put up their product and teachers conduct a gallery
walk where groups display and describe their adapted stanza/stanzas. A pupil
from the pair/group will describe their adapted stanza/stanzas while the rest of
the members provide feedback on the other groups’ stanza/stanzas.

Mystery Object Guessing Game.

1. In groups, they write as many English words for things they can see in the
classroom as possible on a large piece of paper. Give them two minutes for this.
2. Have pupils review the words they have brainstormed. They circle things which
they think children could find in their classroom 50 (or 100) years ago. Gather

3. Ask pupils to look at the picture of the classroom on page 27 of the Pupil’s Book.
Ask them if they can see anything on their lists.
4. Follow the instructions for Activity 2 in the Teacher’s Book, p.50. Pupils listen for

5. Follow the instructions for Activity 3 in the Teacher’s Book, p.51. Pupils review
the main details of the text.

Show pupils the picture/extract from a diary and ask pupils what they can see.

1. Ask pupils to read Gemma’s diary (Pupil’s Book, p.28). Ask a gist question such
as Do you think Gemma had a good day? Why/Why not? Have pupils exchange
their ideas in pairs before whole-class feedback.

2. Follow the instructions for Activity 2 in the Teacher’s Book, p.52. Pupils read and
consider the style of the example diary entry.
3. Follow the instructions for Activity 3 in the Teacher’s Book, p.52. Pupils identify
informal language in the diary.
4. Ask pupils to read the diary entry again. They should underline or highlight
anything in the diary that was also true for them yesterday.

Book. Pupils compare adverbs they wrote with a partner.
