1. Find the domain of the vector function r(t) = ln(4 − t2 )i + 1 + tj − 4e3t k.

2. If r0 (t) = sinti − costj + 2tk and r(0) = i + j + 2k, then find r(t).

3. Find the point(s) where the graph of y = x2 − 6x attains its maximum curvature.

4. Find torsion of a plane.



5. Let r(t) = 2ti + et j + e−t k, t ∈ R. Then find

(a) the unit tangent vector at t = 0.


(b) the length of the curve parametrized by r for 0 ≤ t ≤ ln2.

6. Find the curvature of the parabola y = x2 − 2x at (2, 0).



7. Consider the curves C1 : r1 (t) = (t2 , 1, − 3t2 ) and C2 : r2 (t) = (1, −2cost, 2sint). Find

(a) the unit tangent vector of C2 at the point (1, 1, 3).
(b) the curvature of the curve c2 at t = 0.
(c) the unit principal normal vector of the curve C2 at t = 0.

(a) the velocity of the object at time t.

28. If the vector field F (x, y, z) = (y 2 + 2αzx)i + y(βx + αz)j + (y 2 + αx2 )k is conservative (or
irrotational), then find α and β.
