Objective
Create an ONLINE Professional Portfolio for your Professional Career

Methodology

We will use Google Sites to develop a website to share relevant personal information with potential employers.
Creating a website using Google Sites is a straightforward process that allows you to build a professional-
looking website with ease. Here's a step-by-step tutorial to guide you through the process:

Step 1: Access Google Sites

1. Sign In to Your Google Account: If you don't have a Google account, you'll need to create one.
2. Open Google Sites: Go to the Google Sites website (sites.google.com).

Step 2: Start a New Site

1. Create a New Site: Click on the "+" button to start a new site.

2. Choose a Template (Optional): Google Sites offers a variety of templates. You can choose one that fits
your needs or start with a blank template.
Step 3: Set Up Your Site

1. Name Your Site: Click on "Untitled Site" at the top to add a title. This will also form part of your site's
URL.

2. Choose a Theme: Select a theme from the right-hand side panel to determine the look and feel of your
site.
Step 4: Add Content use the Insert tab

1. Insert Text: Click on the page where you want to add text and start typing.
2. Add Images: Click on the "Insert" tab, then choose "Images" to upload pictures.
3. Embed Videos: Under the "Insert" tab, select "Embed" to add videos by URL.
4. Insert Other Elements: You can add various elements like calendars, maps, Google Docs, Slides, or
Sheets.
5. Insert PDF: Under the “Insert” tab click on “Drive”, choose the PDF file you want to insert from your
Google Drive, and click “Insert” to display on your website page.
Step 5: Structure Your Site

1. Add Pages: To add more pages, click on the "Pages" tab and then click the "+" button.

2. Create a Navigation Menu: Organize your pages using the menu. Drag and drop pages to reorder them.
3. Edit Page Layouts: Customize each page's layout by selecting different layout options from the "Insert"
panel.

Step 6: Customize Site Appearance

1. Change Colors and Fonts: Customize the look by changing colors and fonts under the "Themes" tab.
2. Adjust Header: Customize the header with images, text, and logo.

Step 7: Preview Your Site

1. Preview Your Site: Click on the "Preview" icon to see how your site looks on different devices.
Step 8: Publish Your Site

1. Publish Your Site: Click on the "Publish" button at the top.

2. Set Your Website Address: Choose a URL for your site.

3. Manage Publishing Settings: Adjust who can view your site – make it public access with the Anyone
option.
4. Click on "Publish": Your site is now live.
5. After publishing click on the arrow with the Publish button and select “View published site” to view
your published site.

Copy the URL of your website to submit on Canvas for submission of this assignment.

Step 9: Update and Maintain Your Site

1. Edit Your Site: You can edit your site anytime by returning to Google Sites and selecting your site.
2. Update Content Regularly: Keep your site fresh by regularly updating the content.

Step 10: Share Your Site

1. Share the URL: Share your new website's URL with others.
2. Promote Your Site: You can use social media, email, or other means to promote your site.
Deliverables:

There will be six (6) pages on your website; the details are as follows:
1. Home Page: Add a welcome message and picture on the Home page.
2. Bio & Resume Page: Short Biography (at least 250 words) and your latest Resume (should be inserted
and displayed in PDF format).
3. Projects Page: Details of five (5) academic or community projects; at least 250 words for each project. If
needed, you can also discuss your future projects.
4. Courses Page: Details of five (5) courses: Course title and brief description. These could be your current
courses.
5. Resources Page: Links and Images for five (5) favorite online resources (links).
6. Contact Page: Your contact information (School address, email, etc) – any information you would like
to share with a potential employer.

Submission Instructions:
• Publish your website.
• Submit your website URL link on Canvas.
• Further, you will be assigned to review two (2) websites of your peers.
