1 Introduction

The objective of the Case Studies Report is to analyse………………. Additionally, the application of cloud
computing in real case scenarios to solve issues or challenges related to HealthCare industry. It is
important to know that the VITALDENT, …………………….align with the Information Technology (IT) area
to take advantage of the cloud to have service quality, a better understanding of the needs of the
customers, scalability, speed to market and lower costs than traditional IT infrastructure.

Introduction of the case

VITALDENT is related to the health industry, specialising in dental care (VITALDENT, n.d.). It is
a large size company that has around 10000 employees, 300 practices and 7.5 million patients
in Spain and the United Kingdom (Microsoft, 2021).

VITALDENT expands the business rapidly and it has soiled systems that provoke inefficient
communication with patients around different nations, cultures and tongues (Microsoft,
2021) At the moment, the company needs to replace and connect a legacy Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) , Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and patient
management system (Microsoft, 2021)

How the challenge was solved?

The most important essential characteristics for VITALDENT are broad network access and
rapid elasticity, which is only possible with the help of cloud services.

What were the different service models each utilized?


In this case study SAAS model is used. (discuss the reason )
What are the different deployment models each utilized?
VITALDENT does not mention the deployment model; however, a private model is the most
suitable model for the HealthCare industry because the company has security and privacy in
a high standard (Chandrasekaran, 2014, p. 52). Secondly, the hybrid cloud is partially secure,
but it has a public cloud with a possibility of a security breach (Chandrasekaran, 2014, p. 62).

What services of public cloud providers each case study used?

VITALDENT use five products of Microsoft Dynamic 365 such as ERP (Finance, Supply Chain
Management) to manage the business process, CRM (Marketing, Customer Service) to
manage the interactions with patients, and Customer Data Platform (Customer Insights,
Customer Voice) to manage patient data (Microsoft, 2022). Additionally, Microsoft Azure with
storage services such as Azure Data Lake to manage different data sources (Harvey, 2021).
Additionally, Azure Data Lake creates a basis for analytics that is scalable and uses Microsoft
Power BI to visualise the data for revolutionary insights (Azure, 2022).

Reflection
I (student cannot use I and we in report) found the most important factor was strategy, as a
result, the business needs speed to market with performance and scalability. Having analysed
that the IT area of VITALDENT does not have professionals with cloud computing skills, the
business needs to replace the legacy ERP and the CIO brings the experience of Prodware to
implement a SaaS model, in this case Dynamics 365, with CRM and ERP together with AI tools.

Or

summary as : VITALDENT prefers to use the SaaS because the company does not want to have the
entire responsibility and develop its own ERP or CRM if the market already developed them;

Conclusion:

After understanding the theory of cloud computing, the application of cloud computing in a real case
scenario helps to evaluate how the directors and the IT area applied cloud services in businesses
related to the HealthCare industry and demonstrate the benefits of cloud services with legacy or new
platforms instead of traditional IT infrastructure such as lower cost, scalability and speed to the
market.
