2. Carefully read the instruction in the right hand column and fill in the details in
the left and click ‘LOGIN’
3. OTP will be sent to your registered mail and mobile number(JEE).
Enter the OTP and click ‘SUBMIT”
4. Once you submit the OTP, a new page will open. Fill in the details and click the
declaration section.

5. Cross check the details filled and Click ‘Confirm registration’.

Go to ‘choice filling’ in Available services at left hand side for choice filling.

8. In the following page, choose your Institute types, Institutes and Programs.

9. Scroll down and fill your choices by clicking ‘ADD’ in left side based on your preference. The added
options will be visible in right hand side where you can rearrange your options ‘UP’ and ‘DOWN’ or
remove it.

can be deleted by using the menus available (marked in red)

Suppose you have added the choices but
forgot to save then what will happen?
A) It will be deleted
B) It will be on hold
C) It will be saved automatically
D) It can not be added again
Stage 2: Saving & Locking of choices
1. After adding preferred institutes and courses, save the changes added.
2. Students can Lock the choices on the last date of choice filling i.e. 12th June but it is
not mandatory as it will be automatically locked after 12th June, 5pm.
3. Once locked, the choices filled by a student cannot be edited after deadline
4. Students will NOT be allowed to edit their choice list after the deadline for choice
filling.
NOTE: To edit choices after locking but before the deadline, students must
request an unlock on the JoSAA portal. An OTP will be sent to their registered
mobile and email for validation. Once validated, choices will be unlocked.

I saved my choices but forgot to Lock my
choices, and the registration date has ended,
now what can I do?
If the student is allocated a seat, following steps are required to be carried out:
Step 1: Accept the Seat and opt for any one of the options.
a. Freeze: This choice indicates fixing the college and course given and removes you
from further rounds.
b. Slide: Selecting "Slide" means the student accepts the offered seat but want to
upgrade the branch within the same Institute in future rounds
c. Float: Selecting "Float" means the student accepts the offered seat. But want to get
different institute and branch.

In addition to the above documents, the verifying officials will also check the special eligibility
conditions if any, for all the choices including and above the seat allotted to the student.

Step 3: Pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (Important)
● To continue with the JoSAA process and secure a seat, student must pay the seat
acceptance fee.
● General/OBC: Rs. 30,000
● SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 15,000
● Note: This includes Rs. 5,000 JoSAA processing charges. The seat acceptance fee,
excluding JoSAA processing charges of Rs. 5000, will be adjusted against the
admission fee.

● Failure to do so may result in seat cancellation and exclusion from the JoSAA
process.
● It's the student's responsibility to check and respond to queries on the online
portal promptly.

NOTE:
1. If 4 steps are not done when seat allotted for 1st time - will be Exited from JOSAA.
2. Accepting the Seat: Students accept the seat provisionally—final only after
certificate check, joining the college, and paying pending fees.
3. Rejecting the Seat: If students skip online reporting or don’t pay the seat
acceptance fee, the seat is rejected and they can’t take part in JoSAA anymore
that year.

Is it mandatory to pay seat acceptance fee
during 1st round of seat allotment?
A) Yes
B) No, can pay it in later rounds when we get the
interested seat.
C) It’s optional and can pay at the end of 6th

Stage 4: Partial Admission Fee (PAF) for NIT+ system only
● At the end of 6th round of JoSAA, all students who are allotted seat and have paid
seat acceptance fees are also required to pay the Partial Admission Fees.
● Amount:
○ GEN/OBC/GEN-EWS: Rs. 45,000
○ SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 20,000
Stage 5: Personal reporting to the allotted institutes
for final admission
● After getting allocated and accepting a seat, students need to go to the
admitting institute.
● There, they'll finish all admission paperwork, pay fees, confirm their
admission, and start classes.
3. Consequences of Withdrawal:
● Seat given to another candidate in next round.
● Student no longer considered for future allocations.
● Acceptance fee refunded after processing charges- 5000/-
● Loses chance to join any institute through JoSAA.
● If a student hasn't secured a seat through JoSAA, they can opt out of the
allocation process from the 2nd round until the second last round on the JoSAA
portal.
● This makes them ineligible for admission through JoSAA. However, for IITs,
opting out isn't allowed after 4th round.
QUESTION 5
For confirmed seat allotment, I have to pay
● In JEE Advanced, there’s something called a Preparatory Rank. It means you can
join a 1-year preparatory course at one of the 4 IITs. After that year, you take an
exam, and if you pass, you get the same branch and IIT based on your rank.
● If you are getting a seat in a top NIT and also eligible for a prep course, it’s usually
better to choose the NIT option.

3. In "College Type", Gen 1 means older institutes, Gen 2 means around 10 years old, and
Gen 3 means newer institutes.
4. "Expected Salary" refers to the median salary, not the exact amount offered.
