People usually buy a variety of items at street markets. These can range from fresh produce,
local handicrafts, clothing, accessories, street food, and unique souvenirs. The diverse and
authentic offerings available at street markets attract consumers who appreciate the distinct
charm and cultural experience they provide.

2. Why do you think people go to street markets?

It’s more comfortable for some people to shop in an open-air environment, and they might
love the hustle and bustle of street markets. Besides that, in Vietnam, goods can usually be
bought at bargain prices at street markets, so people do not hesitate to haggle over the price
for the things they need.

 on top of my list (idiom): việc quan trọng nhất cần phải làm

Ví dụ: Studying for the test is on the top of my list for this weekend.
 Bric-a-brac /ˈbrɪk ə bræk/ những vật nhỏ ít giá trị

recently. However, I highly value the experience of shopping at street markets and appreciate
the unique offerings they provide.

5. Do you prefer shopping at street markets or at shopping malls?

As a marketer, I understand the importance of catering to diverse consumer preferences. While

both street markets and shopping malls have their own advantages, my personal preference
leans towards street markets. The authenticity, cultural experience, and the opportunity to
support local businesses make street markets an attractive option for me. However, it's
important to recognize that different consumers have varying preferences based on their needs,
convenience, and shopping goals.

Part 2:Describe a quiet place you like to go

You should say:

 Where it is

 How you knew about it

 How often you go there

 What you do there

And explain how you feel about the place

As a marketer, finding moments of tranquility and solace is crucial for maintaining a balanced
lifestyle. Let me describe a quiet place that I frequently visit and its significance in my role:
The quiet place I often retreat to is a local botanical garden nestled within a serene park in the
heart of the city. I first discovered this hidden gem through online research, where its peaceful
ambiance and lush greenery were highly praised by visitors.

I make it a point to visit the botanical garden at least once a month, usually on weekends when I
can unwind and recharge. Upon arrival, I take leisurely walks along the well-maintained
pathways, immersing myself in the beauty of nature. I also enjoy finding a comfortable spot,
often under the shade of a tree, where I can sit and reflect, read a book, or even brainstorm
new marketing ideas.

The feeling of stepping into the botanical garden is instantly calming and rejuvenating. The
tranquil environment, free from the hustle and bustle of the city, allows me to disconnect from
the demands of work and find inspiration in nature's wonders. The vibrant colors of the flowers,
the soothing sound of birds chirping, and the fresh scent of foliage create a harmonious
atmosphere that helps clear my mind and sparks creativity.

This quiet place holds immense value for me as a marketer. It serves as a sanctuary where I can
escape the noise and distractions, allowing me to gather my thoughts, gain clarity, and approach
challenges with a fresh perspective. It is within this tranquil setting that I often find inspiration
for new marketing campaigns or strategies.

In conclusion, the quiet botanical garden within the city is a cherished place for me. Its serene
atmosphere, coupled with the beauty of nature, provides a much-needed respite from the fast-
paced world of marketing. It not only allows me to recharge and find inspiration but also offers
valuable insights into the preferences of individuals seeking moments of tranquility. This
understanding greatly influences my marketing strategies and enables me to create impactful
and meaningful connections with consumers in the advertising field.

1. Is it easy to find a quiet place in your country? Why?

As a marketer, I understand that finding a truly quiet place in my country can be quite
challenging. With rapid urbanization and population growth, the bustling nature of cities has led
to an increase in noise pollution. However, there are still pockets of tranquility that can be
discovered with a bit of exploration. It may require venturing to suburban areas or natural
landscapes, such as parks or gardens, to find a peaceful retreat away from the noise and
commotion of urban life.

2. Why do old people prefer to live in quiet places?

Older individuals often seek out quiet places to live due to a variety of reasons. Firstly, quieter
environments provide a sense of calm and relaxation, which can be beneficial for their overall
well-being. Moreover, as people age, their tolerance for excessive noise may decrease, making
quiet surroundings more appealing. Living in a tranquil setting also allows them to enjoy a
slower pace of life, away from the hustle and bustle of crowded cities. Additionally, quiet places
provide a sense of security and peace, promoting a sense of comfort and contentment for older
individuals.

3. Why are there more noises made at home now than in the past?

The increase in noises made at home compared to the past can be attributed to several factors.
Firstly, the advancement of technology has introduced numerous electronic devices and
appliances, such as televisions, smartphones, and home entertainment systems, which
contribute to increased noise levels within households. Additionally, the modern lifestyle often
involves multitasking and busy schedules, leading to more activities and interactions taking
place simultaneously in the home environment. Furthermore, the shift towards open floor plans
in modern housing designs has minimized physical barriers, allowing sounds to travel more
freely throughout the space. These factors collectively contribute to the overall increase in
noises made at home.
Part 1

Traveling

1. Which part of your country do you want to travel to?

As an advertising professional, I would love to explore the vibrant and culturally rich regions of
my country that have not yet received much attention in terms of tourism. These off-the-
beaten-path destinations offer unique experiences and have great potential for promoting
sustainable and responsible tourism.

2. Do you prefer traveling in your country or to another country?

As a marketer, I believe in the importance of both domestic and international travel

experiences. While traveling within my country allows me to promote local tourism and
showcase the diverse attractions it has to offer, exploring other countries provides valuable
insights into different cultures and markets. Both types of travel contribute to my professional
growth and understanding of the global market.

3. Do you prefer to travel alone or in a group?

In the advertising field, collaboration and teamwork are crucial. Therefore, I enjoy traveling in a
group, as it allows for brainstorming ideas, sharing perspectives, and fostering creativity. Group
travel also enables networking opportunities and the chance to learn from fellow professionals
in the industry.

Getting lost:

1. Have you ever lost your way?

Yes, I have experienced getting lost during my travels. It can happen even with the best planning
and preparation. However, I view getting lost as an opportunity to discover hidden gems,
interact with locals, and create memorable experiences that can be leveraged in advertising
campaigns.

2. How do you find your way when you are lost?

When I find myself lost, I rely on various tools and technologies such as GPS navigation apps on
my smartphone or using map applications to guide me back on track. Additionally, I seek
assistance from locals or look for landmarks to help orient myself and find my way.

3. Can you read a map when you get lost?

Yes, I am proficient in reading maps, and they can be invaluable when navigating unfamiliar
places. Maps provide a visual representation of the surroundings and help in understanding the
layout of an area. They are particularly useful in situations where technology may not be readily
available or reliable.

4. Have you ever helped someone who got lost?

Yes, I have had the opportunity to assist fellow travelers who were lost. It's fulfilling to share my
knowledge, provide directions, and offer suggestions to help them find their way. Helping others
in such situations not only enhances their travel experience but also creates positive
connections and contributes to building a friendly and welcoming image for the destination.

Part 2

Describe a holiday you would like to take in the future.

You should say:

When and where you would like to go

Who you would like to go with

What you would like to do

Explain why you want to take the holiday.

One holiday I would like to take in the future is a trip to Tokyo, Japan during the Cherry Blossom
season. I would love to visit in early April when the city is adorned with beautiful pink cherry
blossoms. I would like to go with a group of close friends who share the same enthusiasm for
Japanese culture and aesthetics.

During the trip, I envision immersing myself in the vibrant city life of Tokyo. Exploring the
bustling streets of Shibuya, visiting traditional temples in Asakusa, and experiencing the unique
blend of modernity and tradition in the city would be top on my list. I would also like to indulge
in the local cuisine, trying authentic sushi, ramen, and experiencing a traditional tea ceremony.

The reason why I want to take this holiday is twofold. Firstly, as a marketer, I recognize the
immense appeal of Japan as a travel destination. Tokyo, with its rich cultural heritage and
contemporary charm, presents numerous opportunities for creating captivating marketing
campaigns. Experiencing the city firsthand would provide invaluable insights and inspiration for
promoting Japanese tourism.

Secondly, I am personally drawn to the allure of Japanese culture and aesthetics. The Cherry
Blossom season is a symbol of renewal and beauty, and witnessing the blooming sakura trees in
Tokyo is a dream of mine. The holiday would not only be an opportunity for relaxation and
enjoyment but also a source of creative inspiration that I can bring back to my work.

Overall, this holiday to Tokyo during the Cherry Blossom season represents a perfect blend of
personal and professional interests. It offers the chance to explore a fascinating city, engage
with a vibrant culture, and gain valuable insights that can be utilized in marketing strategies.

Part 3

1. Are there any advantages of traveling?

Traveling offers numerous advantages, both personally and professionally. From a personal
standpoint, traveling allows individuals to broaden their horizons, experience new cultures, and
gain a deeper understanding of the world. From a marketing perspective, traveling provides
valuable opportunities to explore new markets, understand consumer behaviors and
preferences, and establish connections with potential clients or partners. It enables marketers
to gather firsthand insights, identify trends, and develop tailored marketing strategies to target
specific regions or demographics.

2. What kind of problems will you face when traveling abroad?

Well, I think it would be the constant feeling that all locals are trying to rip me off. I will have to
calculate the exchange rate in my head all the time to determine whether I’m being taken for a
ride when purchasing goods and services.

 Rip somebody off: bán cho ai với giá đắt hơn bình thường

Ví dụ: I fake my voice so that locals won't recognize that I'm from another city and rip me off.

Part 1

Watching sports

1. Do you like watching programs on TV?

As a marketer, I understand the importance of understanding audience preferences, and

watching programs on TV is a valuable source of insights. While I personally enjoy watching
programs on TV, my focus lies on analyzing viewership trends and consumer behavior related to
sports programming. This helps me identify target audiences and develop effective advertising
strategies to reach them.

2. Do you watch live sports games?

When it comes to live sports games, they offer an excellent opportunity for advertising and
sponsorship. As a marketer, I recognize the value of engaging viewers during these events by
incorporating relevant advertisements and promotions.

3. How often do you watch live sports?

Occasionally. By studying viewership patterns and understanding the demographics of sports

fans, I can create targeted campaigns that resonate with the audience's passion for sports and
enhance brand visibility.

Spending time with others

1. How do you like spending time with your friends?

In my role as a marketer, I understand the significance of building relationships and

collaboration. Spending time with friends is not only enjoyable but also an opportunity to
gather insights and feedback. By engaging in social activities, I can gain valuable perspectives on
consumer preferences and behaviors, which can inform marketing strategies.

2. Do you prefer to study alone or with others?

Studying is a different story. Although I love socializing with others, I think it is better to be in
isolation if I want to focus on something. Otherwise, I could be easily distracted by my friends.

 a different story (idiom) khác biệt

Ví dụ: These drugs are widely believed to be effective medications. The data, however, tell a
different story.

 in isolation (idiom): tách biệt

Ví dụ: Words are pronounced differently in isolation from how they are pronounced in context.

3. Do you remember a time when you needed to cooperate with others?

Lots of times. I recall numerous instances where I needed to collaborate with colleagues, clients,
and external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives. Working together allows us to pool our
diverse skills and expertise, ensuring that our campaigns are well-rounded and cater to the
needs of our target audience.

Part 2

Describe an activity you usually do that wastes your time

You should say:

 What it is?

 When do you usually do it?

 Why you do it?

 And explain why you think it wastes your time?

As a marketer, time management is crucial to my productivity and success. However, there is an

activity that I often find myself engaging in, which I consider a time-waster. It is scrolling through
social media platforms on my smartphone.

I usually find myself doing this during my free time, especially in the evenings or during breaks.
The reason I do it is to relax and unwind after a long day or to stay connected with friends and
industry updates. Social media can be a source of entertainment and information, but it often
leads to excessive time consumption.

I believe this activity wastes my time for several reasons. Firstly, social media platforms are
designed to be addictive, with endless scrolling and engaging content that hooks users for
extended periods. This can result in me losing track of time and neglecting more important
tasks. Secondly, the content on social media is often trivial and not directly related to my work
or personal development. It diverts my attention away from activities that could be more
productive or beneficial for my career growth.

Moreover, social media can be a breeding ground for distractions, such as notifications,
advertisements, and unrelated content, which further contribute to time wastage. Instead of
focusing on important marketing projects or acquiring new skills, I find myself getting caught up
in the endless stream of posts, videos, and comments.

Recognizing the negative impact on my productivity, I have been implementing strategies to

limit my social media usage. This includes setting specific time limits, using productivity apps to
track and manage screen time, and prioritizing tasks that align with my career goals. By reducing
the time spent on social media, I can allocate more time and energy to activities that contribute
to my professional development and overall effectiveness as a marketer.

Part 3

1. How do you balance life and work?

As a marketer, finding a balance between my personal life and work is essential to maintain
overall well-being and effectiveness. One way I balance life and work is by setting clear
boundaries and establishing a routine. I allocate specific time slots for work-related tasks and
prioritize them accordingly. Additionally, I make sure to dedicate time for activities outside of
work that help me relax and rejuvenate.

2. Will you continue doing something when you are aware that it’s a waste of time?
No, obviously. If I know something isn’t beneficial for me, I would probably stop doing that. I
mean, we have only 24 hours in a day so we should make them as productive as possible. But,
setting aside time to relax is also important. Sometimes, you need to unwind a bit and let your
hair down to recharge your battery.

 productive /prəˈdʌktɪv/: năng suất

Ví dụ: The aim was to maximize the machine’s productive capacity.

 let your hair down (idiom): thư giãn

Ví dụ: It’s about time you let your hair down and had some fun!

3. What kinds of things make people feel pressured?

Work. That’s all I can think of right now because I’m suffering from a lot of pressure from my
work. There are deadlines to meet, projects to complete and so on. Other than that, family is
also a big duty. Lots of people have to shoulder the responsibility of raising children or taking
care of their parents. I think these things can also be very stressful.

 Duty /ˈdjuːti/: trách nhiệm

Ví dụ: It is my duty to report it to the police.

 shoulder /ˈʃəʊldə(r)/: gánh vác

Ví dụ: He was unwilling to shoulder this responsibility alone.

Part 1:

wearing now. They haven’t stretched out yet, although I’ve washed them many times.

 Stretch out: dãn

Ví dụ: I'm trying to buy high-quality clothes so that they won’t stretch out after a few weeks.

2. How often do you wear jeans?

I wear them on a daily basis. I mean, I am sick of formal attire like the shirts and trousers that I
have to wear in my workplace. That’s why I always choose a pair of jeans, usually with a short-
sleeved T-shirt and a denim jacket, when I go out.

 Short-sleeved T-shirt: áo phông ngắn tay

Ví dụ: I only wear short-sleeved T-shirt in summer because it's super hot.

 Denim jacket: áo khoác bò

Ví dụ: I don't have any denim jacket because they cost a lot of money.

3. Do people in your country like wearing jeans, why?

Yes, jeans are the clothing of choice for the majority of Vietnamese people, especially the
youth. This is because they are very easy to mix and match with other clothes, and they’re
durable as well. In the past 2 decades, people in my country loved wearing flare jeans, but
skinny jeans are now on-trend.

● Easy to mix and match: dễ phối đồ

Ví dụ: I always have a black skirt in my closet because it’s easy to mix and match with other
pieces of clothes.

● Flare jeans: quần bò ống loe

Ví dụ: Flare jeans are becoming popular these days.

● On-trend: thịnh hành

Ví dụ: Jeans have always been on-trend.

Computers

1. In what situations would you use a computer?

As an advertising professional, I use computers extensively for various tasks such as market
research, data analysis, content creation, and digital marketing campaigns. Computers are
indispensable tools in today's digital landscape.

2. When was the first time you used a computer?

I first used a computer during my early school years when technology education became an
integral part of the curriculum. Since then, computers have become an integral part of my
personal and professional life.

3. What would your life be like without computers?

Without computers, my life would be significantly impacted. I heavily rely on computers for
communication, accessing information, organizing data, and carrying out my work tasks
efficiently. It would be challenging to navigate the digital world and keep up with the fast-paced
nature of the advertising industry.

4. In what situations would ít be difficult for you to use a computer?

It would be difficult for me to use a computer in situations where there is limited or no access to
electricity or internet connectivity. Additionally, situations involving physical or technical
malfunctions with the computer or its components would pose challenges in utilizing its
functionalities effectively.

Part 2

Describe a thing you cannot live without except cell phone or computer

You should say:

 What it is

 How long you have had it for

 Why you can’t manage without it

And explain how you felt when you were without it?

One thing I cannot live without, apart from my cell phone or computer, is my notebook. I have
had it for almost three years now, and it has become an essential tool for my work as a
marketer.

I cannot manage without my notebook because it serves as my creative outlet and an organized
space to jot down ideas, make sketches, and plan marketing strategies. It allows me to capture
my thoughts and inspirations in a tangible form, helping me stay organized and focused on my
tasks. Whether it's brainstorming new campaign concepts or sketching visual layouts, my
notebook is an indispensable companion.

There was a time when I forgot my notebook at home, and I had to go through an entire day
without it. I felt a sense of unease and frustration, as if an important part of my creative process
was missing. I had to rely on random pieces of paper and digital note-taking apps, but it didn't
provide the same level of convenience and familiarity. It made me realize the true value of my
notebook and how it has become an extension of my creativity and productivity.
Having my notebook with me brings a sense of comfort and confidence, knowing that I have a
reliable tool to capture my ideas and keep my thoughts organized. It has become an integral
part of my professional life, and I can't imagine navigating the marketing world without it.

Part 3:

1. Is there any difference between technology in cities and in small towns?

Of course, there are quite a number of differences between technology in urban areas and rural
areas. Due to a slower-paced lifestyle, the technology in small towns may develop much slower
than in megacities. Also, people in big cities may have easier and quicker access to the use of
modern technology, such as computers and automatic teller machines, or ATMs, while it may
take much longer for those things to become common in smaller towns.

 Slower-paced lifestyle: nhịp sống chậm rãi hơn

Ví dụ: When I get older, I want to move back to my hometown to enjoy the slower-paced
lifestyle.

 Megacities: các siêu đô thị

2. Do you agree that men are more obsessed with new technology than women?

I think the main difference between men and women when it comes to technology is that most
men are curious and have a passion for the discovery of the latest technology. They are often
keen on looking for information about cutting-edge tech gadgets in the newspaper or on the
Internet and then burst into excitement whenever they get the chance to try them. Meanwhile,
some women just regard technology as a tool to support their life.
Part 1:

Friends

1. Are your friends mostly your age or different ages? Why?

In the advertising field, I have the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of individuals,
including colleagues, clients, and industry professionals. Therefore, my friends are a mix of
people from different age groups. Having friends of different ages is beneficial as it allows me to
gain insights and perspectives from various life experiences. It helps me broaden my horizons
and understand different target audiences, which is essential in the marketing industry.

2. Do you prefer one or two close friends or many friends?

As a marketer, I value both quality and quantity when it comes to friendships. While having one
or two close friends provides a deeper level of emotional support and understanding, having
many friends offers a wider network and diverse connections. In the advertising field, building
relationships and networking are crucial, so having many friends allows me to tap into different
opportunities and collaborations.

3. Do you usually see your friends during weekdays or on weekends? Why?

Due to the demanding nature of the advertising job, my schedule can be quite busy during
weekdays. However, I try to balance my work and personal life by setting aside time on
weekends to see my friends. Weekends provide a more relaxed atmosphere and allow for
longer social gatherings, which is beneficial for fostering stronger connections and maintaining
friendships.

Meeting new people

1. Do you like meeting new people?

As a marketer, I thrive on meeting new people. Building relationships and networking are
essential aspects of the advertising job. Meeting new people not only expands my professional
network but also exposes me to fresh ideas and perspectives. It allows me to stay updated with
industry trends and create potential business opportunities.
2. Do you often meet new people?

Yes, I do. Being in the advertising field, I frequently attend industry events, conferences, and
networking gatherings where I have the chance to meet new people. Additionally, I actively seek
opportunities to connect with professionals from various backgrounds through social media
platforms and online communities. Meeting new people not only helps me expand my
professional network but also allows me to collaborate on exciting projects and stay abreast of
the latest developments in the industry.

Part 2:

Describe a person that you enjoy spending time with

You should say:

 Who this person is

 How you know him/her

 What you usually do together

And explain why you like to spend time with him/her

One person I enjoy spending time with is my colleague and friend, Sarah. We work together in
the marketing department of a renowned company. Sarah and I met when we joined the
company a few years ago, and since then, we have built a strong bond.

We often engage in various activities together both inside and outside of work. During lunch
breaks, we like to grab a quick bite together and have meaningful conversations. We also
collaborate on different marketing projects, brainstorming ideas and working together to create
impactful campaigns. Apart from work-related activities, we enjoy attending industry events,
workshops, and seminars together to expand our knowledge and network.

There are several reasons why I enjoy spending time with Sarah. Firstly, she has a vibrant and
positive personality, making every interaction with her enjoyable. She has a great sense of
humor and can lighten up even the most stressful situations. Her positive energy is contagious,
and it creates a pleasant work environment.

Secondly, Sarah is incredibly talented and knowledgeable in the field of marketing. She
possesses valuable insights and innovative ideas, which inspire me to think outside the box and
strive for excellence. Collaborating with her not only enhances my professional growth but also
brings out the best in me.

Lastly, Sarah is an exceptional listener. She pays attention to my thoughts and ideas, providing
constructive feedback and support. Whenever I face challenges or need advice, she is always
there to lend a helping hand. Her genuine interest in my success and well-being makes me feel
valued and appreciated.

In conclusion, spending time with Sarah is a rewarding experience. Her vibrant personality,
expertise in marketing, and genuine support make her an incredible companion. I consider
myself fortunate to have her as a friend and colleague, as she adds immense value to both my
personal and professional life.

Part 3:

1. What kinds of people are easy to get along with?

In the marketing field, people who are open-minded, adaptable, and collaborative are generally
easy to get along with. These individuals embrace different perspectives, listen to others' ideas,
and are willing to work as a team. Having good communication skills and being respectful
towards others also contribute to building positive relationships in the workplace.

2. How can leaders get along with their teammates?

Leaders in the marketing field can foster good relationships with their teammates by
demonstrating effective leadership qualities. They can promote open communication channels,
encourage participation, and create a supportive and inclusive work environment. By listening
to their team members' opinions, acknowledging their contributions, and providing constructive
feedback, leaders can establish trust and collaboration, making it easier to get along with their
teammates.

3. Do people have much time for themselves nowadays?

In the fast-paced marketing industry, it is common for professionals to have demanding

schedules and tight deadlines. However, it is essential for individuals to prioritize self-care and
allocate time for themselves. While work commitments may be substantial, managing time
effectively and setting boundaries can help create space for personal well-being. Engaging in
activities like exercise, hobbies, and spending quality time with loved ones can contribute to a
healthy work-life balance and overall satisfaction.
