remedial measures which helps in subsiding the Deforestation Activity. 10

OR
2 a) With a neat sketch, explain the process of Hydrological cycle and its importance. 10

b) The following data is available regarding various types of area and the corresponding

impermeability factors of a town. The total area of the district is 20 hectares, determine the

maximum storm water flow for a rainfall intensity of 50 mm/hour.Calculate the resulting total

run-off from the catchment area for the following data.

Na=20 Cl=40 K=30 HCO3 =67 Ca =5 SO4 =5 Mg =10 NO, =10

The concentration of Stroncium (Sr) is equivalent to a hardness of 2.29 mg/l and the carbonate

alkalinity in this water is zero. Calculate the total hardness, carbonate hardness and non-carbonate

hardness in mg/l as CaCOs. 10
