1. Purpose
To establish a standardized procedure for production planning and scheduling to ensure
efficient use of resources, timely production, and meeting customer requirements.
2. Scope
This procedure applies to all employees involved in the production planning and scheduling
process, including the Production, Procurement, and Quality Control departments.
3. Definitions
● Master Production Schedule (MPS): A plan for individual commodities to be produced
in each time period.
● Bill of Materials (BOM): A comprehensive list of materials, components, and
assemblies required to build a product.
● Lead Time: The total time required to manufacture an item, including order processing,
production, and delivery.
● Capacity Planning: The process of determining the production capacity needed to meet
changing demands.
4. Responsibilities
● Production Manager: Oversee the production planning and scheduling process.
● Production Planner: Develop and maintain production schedules.
● Procurement Team: Ensure the availability of materials and components.
● Quality Control (QC) Team: Inspect materials and finished products to ensure quality
standards.
5. Procedure
5.1 Data Collection and Forecasting
1. Gather Data:
○ Collect historical sales data, market trends, and customer orders.
○ Review inventory levels and current production capacity.
2. Forecast Demand:
○ Use collected data to forecast future product demand.
○ Adjust forecasts based on market analysis and sales trends.
5.3 Scheduling
1. Inspect Materials:
○ Conduct quality inspections on incoming materials.
○ Ensure materials meet required specifications before production.
2. Inspect Finished Products:
○ Perform quality checks on finished products.
○ Document and address any quality issues.
