𝑥−2
y – 1 = 3(x – 2)
y – 1 = 3x -6
y = 3x - 5
(b) y-intercept (04marks)
the line cuts y-axis when x =
y = 0 -5 = -5
hence y- intercept = (0, -5)
2.4 𝑥 102

7. Find the distance between the points (5, 9) and (-7, 2). Give your answer to one decimal place
(04marks)
Let points be P(5, 9) and Q(-7, 2).
Distance between two points = √(𝑥2 − 𝑥1 )2 + (𝑦2 − 𝑦1 )2
PQ = √(−7 − 5)2 + (2 − 9)2
= √(−12)2 + (−7)2
= √144 + 81
= √193 = 13.9 (1D)

L.S. F = √27 = 3
ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑏𝑖𝑔 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑟 87
But L.S.F = = =3
ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑟 ℎ

H only = 18 – (3 + 4 + 4) = 7
P only = 22 – (4 +4 + 5) = 9
(b) Find the number of students who do not play any of the three games. (02 marks)
18 + 3 + 5 + 9 + x = 40
35 + x = 40
