Sheet (4)

1. Draw circuit diagram, and waveforms of output voltage and current of the single-phase half-
bridge inverter has a resistive load of R=2.4 Ω and the DC input is Vs/2 = 24 V, then
determine:
a) The rms output voltage at the fundamental frequency, V1
b) The output power, Po
c) Average and peak current of each transistor
d) Peak blocking reverse voltage of each transistor
e) Total harmonic distortion
f) Harmonic factor of lowest order component

2. Repeat problem 1 for the single-phase full-bridge inverter.

3. A single-phase half-bridge square wave inverter is connected to a resistive load of R o=10Ω.

The DC input voltage to the inverter is V dc=48V. Assume each switch has an average voltage
drop of Vswitch = 0.5V when conducting and the switching losses of Pswitch_loss=2.5W at the
operating frequency. Calculate inverter efficiency

4. Repeat problem 3 for the single-phase full-bridge inverter

5. The full-bridge inverter circuit has a source voltage of 220 V, the inverter supplies an RLC-
load with R = Ω, L = 10mH and C = 0.26𝜇F. The frequency of operation of inverter is 50 Hz.
Calculate:
a) The rms load voltage at fundamental frequency
b) The rms load current at fundamental frequency
