an electron and a proton are placed in an external electric field of same strength. Show the comparison
of their acceleration.(1)
2. In which case we can obtain the curved electric field lines?(1)
3. When a capacitor is charged and then discharged repeatedly, its dielectric gets heated why?(1)
4. Which kind of material should be selected for the resistance measurement device?(1)
5. What will happen to the drift velocity and relaxation time, when the temperature of a conductor is
increased?(1)
6. Ordinary rubber is an insulator. But the special rubber tyres of aircrafts are made slightly conducting. Why
is this necessary?(2)
7. Define electric field at a point. Why its direction is taken away from the positive charge and towards the
negative charge?(2)
8. Show that the electric field is a negative gradient of electric potential using relevant example.(2)
9. Deduce the vector form of Ohm’s law using its scalar form.(2)
10. Define EMF and Terminal voltage. Write the factors which affect the EMF of the given cell.(2)
11. State Gauss’s Law in electrostatics. Apply this law to derive the expression for the electric field due to a
uniformly charged infinite large thin plane sheet.(3)
12. In the arrangement of capacitor shown here, find the energy stored in each capacitor.(3)

13. As shown in the fig. in an experimental setup of a metre bridge. The null point is found to be at 60 cm away
from the point A with X and Y in the given position. When a resistance of 15 Ω is connected in series with
Y , the null point is found to shift by 10 cm towards point A.(i) Find the vales of X and Y (ii) Find the
position of null point if a resistance of 30Ω is connected in parallel with Y.(4)

BLOCK TEST
PHYSICS CLASS-XII DATE: 26/09/2016
MAX.MARKS-25 SET-2 MAX. TIME:
1. If an α- particle (Helium Nucleus) and a positron are placed in an external electric field of same strength.
Show the comparison of their acceleration.(1)
2. In which case we can obtain the straight electric field lines?(1)
3. How a capacitor with dielectric can store more energy compared to capacitor without dielectric?(1)
4. Why do we use nichrome and constantan wire in resistance measurement device like metre bridge?(1)
5. What will happen to the drift velocity and relaxation time, when the potential difference across the
conductor is increased?(1)
6. Vehicles carrying inflammable materials usually have metallic chains touching the ground during motion.
Why is this necessary?(2)
Apply this law to derive the expression for the electric field due to a
uniformly charged infinite long straight and thin wire.(3)
12. In the arrangement of capacitor shown here, find the charge on each capacitor.(3)

13. As shown in the fig. in an experimental setup of a metre bridge. The null point is found to be at 40 cm away
from the end A with X and Y in the given position. When a resistance of 10 Ω is connected in series with
X , the null point is found to shift by 10 cm away from point A. (i)Find the vales of X and Y (ii) Find the
position of null point when the 10 Ω resistance is instead connected in series with Y.(4)
