Title: The influence of globalization on local culture in my community

Stage 1: Problem Identification

Problem Description
Globalization has significantly impacted local cultures worldwide, leading to
both cultural enrichment and cultural erosion. While globalization promotes
cultural exchange, technological advancement, and economic growth, it also
raises concerns about cultural homogenization, loss of traditions, and
dominance of global influences over local customs.

Statement of intent

I intend to explore how globalization affects local cultures, analysing both


positive and negative impacts and proposing strategies to preserve cultural
identity while embracing global progress.

Design specification

Stage 2: Identifying of Related Ideas

Positive Impacts on Local Culture


1. Community Exchange & Hybridization:
- Local festivals can serve as melting pots where traditional crafts and
culinary techniques meet innovative ideas from global influences.
- Examples include workshops where elders and youth collaborate in cooking
traditional meals with modern recipes or reinterpret classic music styles with
current digital sounds.

2. Empowerment through Technology:


- Community centres using digital archives to record oral histories, local
dialects, and traditional art help preserve cultural narratives.
- Local entrepreneurs may use social media and online platforms to promote
indigenous products and artisan crafts. But the community might witness a shift
in values where rapid modernization sidelines the deep, locally rooted practices
such as storytelling, communal celebrations, and ritual
