Light emitting diode (LED): Principles, materials for visible and infrared

coupling to optical fibers.
Stimulated emission and light amplification: Spontaneous and stimulated
emission, Einstein relations, population inversion, absorption of radiation,
optical feedback and threshold conditions.
Semiconductor Lasers: Population inversion in degenerate semiconductors,
