COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a broad-based course and intends to cover multiple applications of current communications systems in addition to the basics. This course

begins by introducing the basic components of a communication system. The students will cover the basics of signals, data communication, modulation

and transmission techniques, wireless communication, optical communication, and the internet of things.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

The students will be able to:

CLO1: Describe the fundamental concepts of data communications and the OSI model.

CLO2: Discuss signals, transmission of signals with channel impairment and digital modulation techniques in various media.

CLO3: Implement IP networks using various networking devices physically or using a network simulator.

CLO4: Investigate the use of communication systems hardware.

CLOs Learning Level OBE PLOs* Teaching Methods CLO attainment checked in
1 C2 1 Lectures Mid Term (Theory), Quiz-1, Quiz-2
2 C2 1 Lectures Quiz-3 + Quiz-4 + Presentation
3 C3 3 Lab Lab Handouts + Midterm (Lab) + Final Activity
4 C4 1 Lab Lab Handouts + CEPA + Quiz
* Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs): PLO1 Engineering Knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering

fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. PLO3 Design/Development of Solutions: An ability

to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate

consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
