a. Greetings
Good Morning Class!
Good Morning Ma’am!
How are you today?
We’re Good Ma’am!
b. Prayer

To start our class, let’s have a

prayer.
Kindly Lead the Prayer __________ Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be
Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be
done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us
this day, our daily bread, and forgive us
our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

c. Classroom Management

Before you have your seats, kindly

pick-up the pieces of papers under
your chairs and align your chairs
properly. Student pick-up the pieces of papers and
align their chairs.

d. Checking of attendance

Who is your class monitor?

Wo are the absentees today? No one is absent today Ma’am.

Wow, that’s Good to hear!

A. ELICIT

What was your lesson last

meeting? Our lesson last meeting ma’am was all
about the significance of Meiosis.

Very Good! Now who can give

me the significance of meiosis? The significance of meiosis ma’am is that it
is responsible for the formation of sex cells
or gametes that are responsible for sexual
reproduction.

Very Good!

B. ENGAGE

Before we proceed to our

discussion let’s sing a song. Are
you familiar with Ushers & Will I.
Am Song? Not really Ma’am!

Okay! The title of the song is

“GREG MENDEL & MEOSIS Song”

Are you ready to sing and have

fun? Yes, Ma’am!

Okay! So eyes on the screen!

“GREG MENDEL-MEOSIS
Song by Usher and Will I. Am

Greg Mendel
Greg Mendel
He did it again, so I'm gonna let
the beat drop

Mendel had a garden Students are singing

There's so many different pea
plants
They had different kinds of
seeds
Some green and some were
yellow
Then he thought, Oh my gosh,
different traits
He found heredity, he makes me
wanna say Students are singing
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,

makes me wanna say

Chant (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,

Students are singing
Mеndel made a wise decision
when he chose to study peas
They are either really t-t-tall or
short, and droppin' low
Mendel crossbred pea plants
they were either tall or small
Parent Generation; this is what
he called them
All of the plant offspring were
tall, tall, tall
He was so surprised he said, Students are singing
Wow, oh, wow
Then F-Generation, pollinated
themselves
Tall, tall, tall, Small, But how
could that be 'cause
None of the parents were small
Then he checked for other traits
Color, seed coat, and all, and all,
and all.

It's dominant, recessive genes

Alleles control inheritance
Let's set up a Punnett Square
Genetic possibilities
Phenotype is physical, visible
But Genetic Mix is Genotype
He makes me wanna' say Students are singing

Meiosis is where cells will split to Students are singing

end with half the number
Chromosomes for sex cells, egg
and sperm pair with each other
Every chromosome is copied,
they're held together

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,

Meiosis 1

Pairs line up the middle then,

spread apart
Two cells form with half the
number, split apart
Chromosomes are double
stranded-not for long

This is all repeated in Meiosis 2

Centromeres split each strand
into two
Four sex cells have been
produced
Now with a chromosome, from
each, first pair.

Okay Now class, what can you The song is about Gregor Mendel Ma’am
say about the song? and the pea plants in their garden.

Very Good It is about Gregor

Mendel and the different pea
plants of Mendel.

C. EXPLORE

Now let us have a short game. I

will be dividing the class into 2
Groups. Let’s start to count
here, 1, 2

Now in 10 Seconds I want you to

go to your group and form a
circle SILENTLY.

Group 1 will stay on this area

Group 2 will stay on this area
Yes, Ma’am!

Do I make myself clear? Students proceed to their area.

Your 10 Seconds starts now! Yes, Ma’am!

Are you in your group already?

If that’s the case, then be with me

this morning as we are going to talk a. Define who is Gregor Johann Mendel
about MENDELIAN GENETICS b. Integrate the different traits in a
positive way; and
At the end of this lesson you are c. Write possible combination of genes

objectives

Before we proceed let’s have first

an unlocking of difficulties.

DOMINANT- it is an allele, a gene,

or a trait that is expressed and
represented by a capital letter.

RECESSIVE- it is a gene whose

effects are masked in the presence
of a dominant gene and
represented by a small letter.

HOMOZYGOUS- It is an organism
that has the same two copies of a
gene.

HETEROZYGOUS- It is an
organism that has different copies
of gene for a particular trait.

GENOTYPE- it is an organism’s
genetic information.

PHENOTYPE- It is a set of The genetic information from our parents

observable physical traits. pass on us.

When you hear the word Heredity,

what comes to your mind?

Heredity- is the study of how traits

are passed on from parents to the
offspring.
VARIATION- study on how the
organisms differ from each other.

Many of us wonder why we look It is because of the traits that we inherit

similar to our parents, or why do Ma’am!
our we have the skin color of our
mother and our height are the
same with our father. How did this
happen? What do you think?

Very Good! Now to deepen our

understanding about our topic
today, let us watch this video that I Gregor Johann Mendel
have prepare for you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mehz7tCxjSE

Alright! Who is the Australian Monk?

Very Good!

Gregor Johann Mendel

 He is the father of Genetics. Pea Plants

 Started the study of heredity. How
traits are pass on from one
generation to another.

Where did this discovery of Gregor Mendel

started?

It starts when Mendel study the Pea

Plants.
1. SEED COLOR
He studies the 7 characteristics of the 2. SEED SHAPE
Pea Plants 3. SEED COAT COLOR
4. POD COLOR
Everybody read 5. POD SHAPE
6. FLOWER POSITION
1. SEED COLOR 7. HEIGHT
2. SEED SHAPE
3. SEED COAT COLOR
4. POD COLOR
5. POD SHAPE
6. FLOWER POSITION
7. HEIGHT
Using the pure-breeding plants, Mendel
cross-pollinate the peas with different
traits. The pure-breeding peas were
called parental or P1 generation and
when cross-pollinate, the resulting
offspring were called first filial (F1)
generation. F1 generation was also called
as hybrids because it resulted from a
cross between two pure-bred plants with
different traits.

EXAMPLE:

After cross-breeding the pure-breed peas,

Mendel crossed the peas from the F1
generation (hybrid) with each other and
produced another type of offspring called
the second filial generation F2. There
were two types of offspring produced in
the F2 generation, ¾ were round seeds
and ¼ were wrinkled seeds.

I don’t know Ma’am!

It teaches us what are the possible trait

Now what do you think, how are we going that an organism may inherit from its
to solve those? Or come up with the parents Ma’am.
possible combination? What are we going
to use?

Now let’s proceed on how to make a

Punnett Square. Do you know what is a
Punnett Square?

Very Well Said!

PUNNETT SQUARE

Reginald C. Punnett- Is the one who

devised the Punnett square. This is a
simple way to determine the possible
combinations of genes in a given cross.

How to make a Punnett Square?

To make a Punnett square, start by

drawing a box that's divided into 4 equal
squares. Then, label the rows with one
parent's genotype and the column's with
the other parent's genotype. Then, label
each square, starting with the letter to the
left of the square followed by the letter
above the square.

Give examples

Values Integration Yes, Ma’am!

Human beings have different traits and

appearance depending to what we inherit So our traits ma’am or appearance are
from our parents. Am I right? inherited from our parents. The thing that
we can do is that accept the differences
Now how are we going relate this between one another because we inherit
differences in a positive way? that it is not us who choose to have those
traits or appearance.

Very Well said!

E. ELABORATE

Activity Title: Know Me!

Everybody Read the Direction
