Silence On The Ozymandias - An Alien One Shot
Silence On The Ozymandias - An Alien One Shot
“The alarms sound as everyone begins to slowly wake for the morning
shift as Ozymandias station slowly comes to life. The time is 0800
hours Standard Earth Time. Everyone begins leaving their quarters and
getting ready for another day of work.”
Everyone can describe the look of their character and what their
character does as they wake up and get ready for their shift.
MU/TH/UR 9000 will ask to speak with Capt. Arya and Jim Kranken about
something urgent. A distress signal has been picked up near the
asteroid Z1-32 from an unknown vessel. As by company policy 9147, all
possible distress signals are to be investigated, with salvage and
crew rescue to be priority.
After making a series of Piloting and Comtech rolls, they will reach
a derelict ship floating out in space. With an Observation check,
they can see that the ship collided with one of the asteroids,
causing its hull to rupture, with many of its contents pouring out
into space.
- With more than one success, they can see floating debris on the
side of the ship labeled: USRS Scylla.
Once they bring it back on, they can dispense the life pods they can
safely open the sleep pods holding the passengers, revealing about 6
individuals who are still asleep.
- With a successful Medical Aid check, they can tell they are
suffering from Cryosleep Hypersomnia, a condition that causes
individuals who are in sleep pods for an extended period of
time to take some time before they wake up.
Due to their fragile condition, Dr. Janet Fjord (see “Stat Blocks”)
will suggest that they be brought to the MedBay for examination.
After about an hour, they will begin to awake, many of them panicking
and screaming for someone to help them or to kill them:
- “As the crew of the Scylla struggle under their restraints,
screaming and crying and desperately begging for someone, anyone
to kill them. Their cries are soon replaced with foam leaking
from their mouths and their eyes being rolled back into their
heads. You then hear a loud crunching noise, as you hear the rib
cages of the Scylla crew begin to rapidly snap. Soon the foam and
bile spilling from their mouths is replaced with blood and the
convulsions get only more violent. You then hear a final loud
snap as their chests explode open, blood spraying on you and
nearly everyone in the room as the Scylla crew all scream their
final breath. The room falls silent, all except for the squishing
and squelching coming from the gaping holes in their torsos. From
within their chest, small, pale serpentine creatures wriggle free
from their hosts. Each one is slicked with gore, its elongated
head glistening as their eyeless heads scan the room. They bare
their silver teeth at you all, before quickly scurrying across
the floor, dashing towards the air ducts.”
All PCs present increase Stress Level by 1 and must make an immediate
Panic Roll
Act 2: Ozymandias, King of Kings
If anyone tries to contact the outside world, MU/TH/UR will tell them
that due to company quarantine policy, outside contact is forbidden
until quarantine measures can be dropped. A Comtech roll against
MU/TH/UR can be made in order to successfully get a message off of
the station. In addition, they learn that Order 975b is now in
effect.
- **Procurement of specimens for Weyland Yutani to be top
priority of station Z1-97, all other priorities to be
rescinded. Company Synthetic will aid in the creature's
infestation. The lives of the crew are to be considered
acceptable losses.**
- Only Officer Kraken is capable of accessing Order 975b's actual
motives.
In the Ship Depot, Michael Landis, the station’s head mechanic, will
be found dead, speared through the heart, causing an immediate Panic
Roll in the one who finds him. A Xenomorph is actively hunting down
crew members on this floor.
