Wilhelm Reich Essay
Wilhelm Reich was born in the Austro Hungarian Empire on March 24th, 1897. His parents were
farmers, and at a young age Reich developed a fascination with the life processes of plants and
animals. His formal education at this time was provided by a private tutor.

When Reich was 14, he discovered his mother was having an affair with his tutor. After Reich
reported this to his father, his mother committed suicide. Atwood and Stolorow (1977) have
speculated that this tragedy may have contributed to Reich s most significant theories.

After the death of his father three years later, Reich took over the family farm until it was destroyed
by the Russians in 1915. At that time he joined the Austrian Army. Upon returning from the war,

Because sexuality is often shrouded in ignorance and shame, many people are not able to attain this
release and, according to Reich, are thereby doomed to ill health and neurotic disturbances.

In order to combat societal pressure and educate the youth, Reich began organizing mental hygiene
clinics and sex counseling. He also began joining liberal and socialistic groups at this time,
convinced that only an overthrow of authoritarian society could ultimately alleviate the neurotic
suffering of its constituents. To this end, in 1930 he left his wife and daughters and traveled to
Berlin to join the Communist Party. Three years later, Reich would be expelled from the Party
because of his views regarding sexuality.

With the rise of Hitler, Reich left Germany and traveled to Denmark, and then fled to Sweden to
escape the Nazis. Sweden expelled him, and Reich moved on to Norway, where he began his bion
experiments. It was during these experiments that he discovered what he would term orgone energy, a
form of life energy which the bions emitted. He built and began experimenting with a device
intended to attract and concentrate orgone energy, the orgone accumulator, or ORAC.

In 1939, Reich accepted an invitation to lecture at the New School for Social Research in New
York City, and he moved to the United States. He married again, and in 1944 his son Peter was
born. He continued to experiment with the ORAC, and in 1948 he is said to
Nihilism According To Nietzsche
The nihilism analysis has been prevalent position over the past few years. Its anticipated purpose is
to demand questions about the norms made in a philosophical debate. These contain the notion that
one must actually suggest and preserve an idea in order to contextualize one s idea.
Tacitly, this philosophy, nihilism, seems new to most people and to philosophy as a whole. Especially
from a Western standpoint. But Nietzsche conducts an unapologetic attack on what society has
deemed as conformist morality. And at the end of the 19th Century (when he died) this could have
struck many as more progressive rather than conservative. Many during that time, however, saw it as
pure sacrilege. The entrenched on both sides have made it difficult ... Show more content on

As a communications major, the focus should not be on the words themselves, but rather on the
more in depth meaning of those words. Zarathustra says the coined phrase and follows up with, We
have killed Him. In laymen s terms, the scientific certainty has made God archaic and outdated. But
really, there is an underlayment here. The underlying idea that it is not just God (this supernatural
icon in the sky) that is dead, but rather the idea that many of the absolutes that we discussed
previously have died. One specifically being morality. These outmoded morals cannot direct the
humans in a more intricate world/society. There are many discussions that have been had about
this phrase and what it could mean, but the most significant is that the value itself is prospectively
weak. Humans have transformed into this complicated being, and constrained by this badness of
morals. There is one woman who would argue in a Newsweek article that Nietzsche through
objective morality. Karen Armstrong of Newsweek states in the article History of God that
...Nietzsche was right to say that human beings killed God. Even fundamentalists (whose faith is
essentially modern and innovative) bear to the fact that men and women can no longer be religious
in the same way as their ancestors. In the postmodern world, it was generally understood that while
reason was indispensable for mathematics, science, or politics. It could, not by itself give human
beings access to the divine. But the extraordinary success of scientific rationalism in the modern
world has made reason the only path to truth. We assume that God is an objective fact, like the
atom, whose existence can be proved empirically. When we find the demonstration unconvincing,
we lose faith. Our neglect of the esthetic of prayer, liturgy, and mythology has indeed killed our
sense of the divine. 1 Nietzsche labels this as a bit of

Dominic s Variation Of Masks
Dominic lives a variety of lives, wearing a variation of masks throughout. By day, he is a
prosecutor in Austin, Texas, and by night he plays music at the Norman Pub (Pryor 11); but
underneath it all, he is a psychopath. Generally this means, he doesn t process, or display emotions
like a typical person would. Instead, Dominic can [only] feel some of them, ones like anger,
disappointment, and lust. ... Emotions [tying him] to others, like compassion, love, or even fear, ...

The Red Convertible Analysis
The Red Convertible

After reading the short story, The Red Convertible , by Louise Erdrich, it is evident that the red
convertible, in the story, is symbolic of the connection between Henry and Lyman. Their connection
was unique in the fact that they were not only brothers, but also connected through the purchase of
the red convertible, that they had bought together. While Lyman was away at war, Henry stated, I
wrote him back several times, even though I didn t know if those letters would go through. I kept
him informed all about the car (pg. 3). This quote explains their connection as brothers. The car
was almost like a baby to them, as Henry shared with Lyman how he was taking such good care of it
while he was away. Much like the stories

Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut

J.D Salinger was best known for his portrayal of isolationism and the loss of innocence in his
literary works. Like many Modern artists of the 1950 s, such as his good friend Ernest
Hemmingway, Salinger was highly interested in reflection of the individual as well as the
disconnectedness between adults and children (Calloway 3). In his short story, Uncle Wiggily in
Connecticut , Salinger uses the themes of love, death, and the war to reflect the emotional
detachment between Eloise and her own life, as well as her relationships with her husband and
daughter.

Again, Eloise slides the attention back to alcohol, insisting she refill Mary Jane s glass and that
she stay longer. As the story progresses, we are finally introduced to Eloise s past love history. She
abandons her critical nature and attitude when describing the man of her past, who made her
laugh. He could do it when he talked to me. He could do it over the phone. He could even do it in
a letter. And the best thing about it was that he didn t even try to be funny he just was funny
(Salinger). The language she uses gives the reader the image of her lying on her couch as she
reminisces about her past experiences with him. Salinger invites us into her emotional memory
bank, and constructs the dialogue within this very scene in such a way that places Eloise mentally
by herself remembering things that once made her happy, and making everything at that moment
obsolete, in the same way a lover might recall their past love experiences (Smith 648). It is at this
very point within the plot that we become aware of not only her relationship with this other past
man, but also where the name Uncle Wiggily was derived from. This name is of significance to
her. However, her train of thought is interrupted by Mary Jane reminding Eloise of the current
martial situation she s in now, Doesn t Lew have a sense of humor Mary Jane said (Salinger). Her
response to the questions of her husband does not run as deep as the memories she has with the other
man. Quickly,
Lord of the Flies Violence
How does Golding use violence in the novel Lord of the Flies ?

In the novel Lord of the Flies , Golding uses the theme of violence surfacing throughout the text.
One reason for this was, Golding believed that every individual has the potential for evil and that
the flawed human nature is seen in mankind s essential sickness . His belief in this arrived through
his time spent in war, so his aim was to challenge Ballantyne s novel Coral Island , and in which
Golding s book the truth would be shown about his own thoughts of the darkness of mankind. As the
theme of violence is in the heart of the novel, another reason of this is due to the quick breakdown of
civilisation on the island. Through the breakdown, an ideal situation of ... Show more content on

The first act of destruction on the island follows the idea of the diseases and fallen human nature, is
the pushing of the boulder. After three of the boys have noticed the boulder, they decide to accept
the challenge , which they succeed in doing so. The fact that they didn t need to remove the boulder
from the mountain portrays the fact that the smallest things that the boys notice in their way have to
be somehow destroyed. This displays the temptation in which the island is leading them to, as if they
are obsessed by the thought of destruction in these early stages. The pushing of the rock symbolises
the naturally destructive instincts that loses the innocence inside the children who are immediate to
disturb the harmony of the island, following Golding s theories. The islands reaction to the rock is
through the forest shaking with the passage of an enraged monster . Golding uses the word monster
to describe this, to imply that the boys have let out a metaphorical beast onto the island which
portrays the evil inside of the boys beginning to become exposed and their evil nature beginning.
Furthermore, this portrays the battle between the diseased mankind and the natural world starting to
corrupt the island.
However, in contrast to this when Jack comes across a pig, evidentially to kill as he assigned himself
the role of hunter, Jack is unable to murder the animal. Golding describes
How Culture Helps Drive Business Results Within Facebook
With the exponential changes in technology and continued evolutions to business, businesses exist
today that we had no idea would be possible just a short time ago. The relatively new companies
are found in the industry of Internet Information Providers and Social Media. These businesses are
challenged on how they could possibly drive revenue and if growth was sustainable. Facebook and
Twitter combine for a current market cap of 320 billion dollars. Proving thus far, that the industry
has been successful. To get a better understanding and help compare the two companies, I will look
at how culture helps drive business results within Facebook and Twitter. Then I will go on to discuss
the operating performances of the two companies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act to bring employees over to a new location for the sole purpose of setting up the culture
shows how much emphasis Facebook puts on culture. Another practice that Facebook uses to
help define culture is to let employees have a say in the culture. They do this for example, by
letting the employees paint the office walls at new locations and help give specific names to the
conference rooms. These practices allow the employees to literally create the culture and build a
sense of ownership (Facebook Innovated Company Culture). A final major point of emphasis to
the Facebook culture is that there is no hierarchy within the organization. This helps to promote
the sharing of ideas from all individuals. The overall summary of the Facebook culture shows that
it is a fun fast paced organization developed to draw the most out of creative young minds.
Twitters culture has many of the same points of Facebook in regards to a fun fast paced
atmosphere devoted to the younger generation of work force. However, twitter does have a few
differences as well. Twitter was voted the number one culture and work place environment by its
employees in a 2014 poll by glassdoor.com (Twitter Tops all In Culture). Some of the reasons that
this might be true are that employees receive benefits such as unlimited vacations, yoga while at
work and free meals (twitter Tops all in culture). Many of these amenities that other Fortune 500
companies would deem cost

The following report will show the similarities and differences between the form and structure of the
Yonkers OIG South Broadway Business Improvement District audit and USDA OIG Plant Protection
and Quarantine Preclearance Offshore Program audit. Directed by Yonkers s City Council
Resolution No. 52 2008, the Yonkers OIG conducted an operational and financial review of the
nonprofit organization call South Broadway Business Improvement District ( BID ). Specifically, the
Yonkers OIG audit looked at the facts and circumstances that allowed BID s former office manager

OIG performed an operational review of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service s Plant
Protection and Quarantine program ( PPQ ). Specifically, the USDA OIG assessed the management
controls of PPQ.
Each report started differently, in which the USDA OIG report started with an executive summary,
while the Yonkers OIG report started with a rationale or predicate statement followed by a section
called Background. The executive summary s purpose is to provide stakeholders or readers with an
easy understanding of the OIG s goals, objectives, findings, recommendations and the impact of the
audit. However, the Yonkers audit report did not have or start with an executive summary, but did

Imperial Japanese Army Responsible For Ww2 Essay
The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall in WWII, as they were too
egotistical, putting pride before logical and effective decisions, started making fatal mistakes and
planning failures, and made game changing decisions that ultimately caused great defeat for the
Imperial Japanese army. The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall in
WWII as they made fatal decisions. First, the Japanese army neglected to routinely change their
codes. American code breakers quickly broke the Japanese code and were able to anticipate almost
all Japanese moves, resulting in many victories for the Allies, such as the Battle of Midway and the
assassination of Admiral Isoruku Tammamoto, and consequently great defeat for Japan. Elliot

A Star s Death Of A Star
All stars are born in nebulae. Nebulae are huge cold clouds of gas and dust. The formation of
protostars requires huge clouds of gas and dust collapsing under gravitational forces. The stage of
a protostar last an approximate of 50 million years. As stars grow, they also expand. When the core
runs out of hydrogen and helium, the contacts and outer layers of the core expand, become cold,
and the brightness decreases. This is also known as a Red Giant or a Red Supergiant which mainly
consists of the stars mass. After a while of beginning the process of its death it goes through other
stages. The beginning of a star s death starts when their core runs out of hydrogen and then helium.
