Adjective:
An adjective is a word that describes a noun, for example: beautiful birds, tall
tree, handsome boy, eight planets etc.

1. Underline the adjectives in each sentence.

b. She had brown long hair and green eyes.
c. He eats healthy food.
d. They like reading story books.
e. The small cat is sleeping.
f. My new toy is fun to play with.
g. It is a sunny day.
h. Please have some hot coffee.

2. Read the paragraph. Circle all the adjectives.


It was a rainy day and my little puppy jumped onto our red couch. He played
with his new toy. I liked to watch him play. It made me feel happy. Soon, my
playful puppy yawned. He was a tired puppy. I picked him up and laid him on
his soft, round bed. After sometime, my sleepy puppy was snoring away.

3. Write the opposites of the given words.

Suffix: (‘-er’ and ‘-or’)
A suffix is a letter or a group of letters added at the end of a
word to make a new word. It changes the meaning or
grammatical function of a word, e.g. speaker, visitor etc.

1. Add the appropriate suffix ‘-er’ or ‘-or’ to create new words.

Kindness in Words
Punctuation Marks:
Punctuation marks are the signs indicating how a written text should be read
and understood. Let us learn about some of these:
a. Period (.) indicates the end of the declarative sentence, e.g. He is going to
school.
b. Comma (,) indicates the short pause, e.g. Amar, I hope you will come.
c. Question Mark (?) is used after a question, e.g. What is your name?
d. Exclamation Mark (!) is used to express strong emotion or sudden feeling, e.g.
What a good advice!

1. Help Kaavi to add the correct punctuation marks to his journal entry.
The Ringing Telephone
Noun:
A noun is the name of a person, a place, an animal, a bird or a thing. Let us
practice these.
1. Complete the table with nouns. The first one is done for you.

2. Read the given passage loudly. Record it and send it to your English

Pronoun:
A pronoun is a word that is used in the place of a noun, e.g.: he, she, it, his, her
etc.

1. Read the story ‘The Farmer’ from your book ‘My Reading Buddy’ and find
out the pronouns from it and write in the given space.

2. Complete the paragraph using suitable pronouns.

Use of ‘a few’ and ‘a little’
‘A few’ is used with countable nouns, whereas ‘a little’ is used with
uncountable nouns, e.g. a few books, a little water.
1. Decide whether you have to use ‘a few’ or ‘a little’.

b. Prabhjot has invited classmates to his party.
c. Have you got minutes? I want to talk to you.
d. You need eggs and flour to make pancakes.
e. Can I have sugar, please?

2. Read the dialogue between Sukhraj and the vegetable seller. Practise it
with your sibling or friend.
Sukhraj: Which vegetables have you brought today? Do you have
cauliflower?
Seller: I have brought cabbage, potatoes, brinjals, lettuce. Yes, I
have cauliflower too.
Sukhraj: What is the price of cauliflower?
Seller: It will cost 50 rupees per kg.
Sukhraj: The price is too much.
Seller: No Sir, this is the market rate.
Sukhraj: No, no. Give it to me for 30 rupees or else I will buy it from
somewhere else.
Seller: Ok Sir. I will give it to you for 40 rupees per kg.
Sukhraj: Ok, but still it’s costly. Give me only 3 kgs.
Seller: Sure Sir. Here it is.
Sukhraj: Thank you! How much is the total?
Seller: It’s 120 rupees only.
Sukhraj: Take 120 rupees.
Seller: Thank you, Sir!
Sukhraj: You’re most welcome.

She is surprised to see such a huge shark. She gets afraid and runs away.

Regular and Irregular Verbs:
Regular verbs follow typical conjugation patterns (like talk/talked/talked).
Irregular verbs do not follow any typical conjugation patterns (like go/ went/

is irregular in the given space. Also write the past tense of the verb. The first

Neha and her mother went for a shopping. Neha drove the car to the shopping
centre and parked in the parking space. Neha met a friend outside the market
and they talked for a few minutes. Then they entered the supermarket and
collected a trolley. Her mother remembered that she needed to buy a present
for Shalu, Neha’s cousin. They moved the trolley to the gift aisle and looked for
a special present. In the end, they chose a beautiful watch as Neha knew that
she loves collecting watches.

c. Why did they choose a watch as a gift?

d. Find out irregular verbs from the above story.


Project Work (Level-2)

1. Write 15 pages of good handwriting or calligraphy on a neat and clean,


separate copy in your summer vacations.

2. Prepare a scrapbook or chart or model on any topic of your English


textbook. It can be related to grammar, text, vocabulary etc. You can take
help from your teachers and siblings.

Note: Teacher will guide and assist the students.
