1960s Time Capsule Essay
It is year 2325 my colleagues and I have made an amazing discovery we have found 5 items dating
way back to the 1960 s. We are archeologist that love finding things from years and years ago. My
colleagues and I have just been summoned to a dig a site because my colleagues made a unique
discovery: a time capsule from the 1960s that was buried so long ago. Very carefully my
colleagues and I are going to unearth and open this time capsule. Inside the time capsule we found
five items that define the era of the 1960s. The very first item we found is a record by The Beatles
. The Beatles got their first studio deal in 1962. The Beatles cast involved John Lennon, George
Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. In the 60 s the Beatles... Show more content on

Also known as the fab four the Beatles were able to bring joy and happiness back to the country
after John Kennedy was assassinated which was one of America s troubling and trying times in
the 60 s. As the Beatles apparel and hairdos became more thrilling and the Beatles were wearing
facial hair in 1966 which was one of their many laidback behaviors that coordinated with those of
the counterculture, including smoking marijuana and taking mind altering drugs. The next item we
found was a 1967 Rolling Stones magazine. The Rolling Stone came out around the same time as
what was called the hippie movement. It covered a lot of music, politics, and culture. In the 60 s
anybody who bought the magazine only paid 35 cents per magazine. Some of the stories covered in
1967 in the magazine were about The Beatles, Tina Turner, and John Lennon. According to research

The Effects Of Immigration On The United States Essay
4. Current Situation In the past few years, a lot has been spoken and researched about
immigration. The goods are moving in out of the countries more freely as globalization has taken
its stand. Not only goods, but people also move about more freely than before. Effects of
immigration Immigration can have some positive impacts as well as some negative ones. Both the
hosts and originals are affected by it. The countries which are industrialized in Western Europe or
the United states are usually more of the recipient ones. The following benefits are offered to these
countries by the immigrants: Some jobs are done by the immigrants which cannot be done or will
not be done by the people in the host countries; They can work at lower rates than the people of host
countries; The diversity of the host countries can be increased; If the immigrants are from a well
settled background, the help to increase the talent pool of the host countries. There are some
drawbacks as well: Exploitation of immigrants due to cheap labor; As the immigrants are spending
their merits in other countries developing or original countries may have some lack of people in
their talent pool. Some criminal elements can also get associated with immigration; If the perception
of immigrants getting more benefits than the local people arise, a tension could be initiated between
them; Source: http://www.globalissues.org/article/537/immigration#Whydopeopleemigrate The face

Joyride
Background:
We are in the business of providing reliable micro transportation to the downtown Auburn area. There
is no free on demand transportation in the area but many growing businesses.
A joyride in Auburn would provide thousands of people an easier opportunity to commute around
campus and downtown Auburn.
Over the next two years I plan to grow Joyride to a stable, household brand to students and residence
alike of the Auburn community. I plan to grow to Joyride to eight carts that would be constantly and
consistently used throughout the week. I six business in the downtown area would be willing to
sponsor a cart marketing package.
Specific target businesses would be: Skybar, Bourbon Street Bar, Quixotes, The Hound, Acre
Restaurant, Live Oaks, Avondale Bar Tap Room, Moes Original, Little Italy Pizzeria, Pieology
Pizzeria, Auburn Draft house, 17 16 Bar, Ellie Shoe Boutique, and Locker Room.
There are many, many businesses that would receive the full personalized sales pitch from me but
those listed above are those that I think have the expendable income to support a marketing endeavor.
I believe that Joyride can take over a significant market share of the on demand transportation service
in the community since on demand ride shares have just been legalized in Auburn as of just this
August and the only competition Uber is just now getting the ball rolling themselves with no market
competition.
I am compelled to start Joyride in
Daisy Miller Loss Of Innocence Essay
Henry James novella, Daisy Miller, illustrates the incompatible social constructs of knowledge and
innocence. Daisy, a young, American girl from upstate New York, meets a gentleman named
Winterbourne while on holiday in Switzerland. Also an American transplant living in Switzerland, he
becomes fixated on understanding Daisy s behavior, mystified by her independence and self
confidence. The opposition of their qualities ultimately leads to Winterbourne wasting their limited
time together trying to decipher whether Daisy s spontaneity is a result of her innocence or the lack
thereof. Daisy Miller herself is an enigma to Winterbourne. Through the narrator s eyes, she is
portrayed as a brash, yet innocent woman who fails to adhere to European etiquette of that time. The
name Daisy alludes to the simplicity and delicacy of the flower. Through Winterbourne s constant
assessment of Daisy s every move, he chalks up her inappropriate behavior to senselessness. But the
following interaction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This obliviousness parallels dangers of her late night rendezvous at the Coliseum with Mr.
Giovanelli and foreshadows her downfall. The danger did not lie in the fact that she was
unsupervised all night with a man, but simply being outdoors all night in an area where malaria ran
rampant. The fearless ignorance to romantic and cultural affairs is not her flaw, but the absence of
mindfulness to such a serious threat. Then we have Frederick Winterbourne, whose thoughts and
outlook make up the majority of the narrative. As his name suggests, Winterbourne emanates an icy
disposition. It is no coincidence that daisies live a short life and then die in the cold of winter. He is
a distinguished man of the world who religiously adheres to the rules of society. The thought of a
woman who embodies both innocence and allure challenges everything that society has taught
The Cultural Differences In The Canadian Society During...
There were three main groups that suffered and struggled through many obstacles and a lot of
people setting them back; women, First Nations people, and immigrants and minorities. This
prejudice caused a significant negative impact on the Canadian society during the 1920s. In the
roaring twenties, many people believed that only white men should be treated with any respect
because that was the status quo at the time. The status of women was improving as some women
got the right to vote, a woman was elected a member of parliament, and women were now legally
considered persons , but women were still treated horribly and with little respect or dignity. The First
Nationspeople as a whole were greatly mistreated because of the federal government and the non first
nations, Canadians believed that the First Nations people would be more content, giving up their
religion, heritage, and culture and become more mainstream Canadian Christian. In addition,
immigrants and minorities in Canadaduring this time also suffered greatly because of the prejudice
against them and the fact that the Canadian government frowned upon all immigration that was not
from another Commonwealth country, a European country, or did not involve white Americans.
First of all when women started to do the same thing men did that had much of the Canadian
population skeptical and afraid that these activities would make the women more masculine and
nobody wanted that to happen. Many spectators attended the game[New Glasgow women s club
defeated the Glacé Bay] out of curiosity to find out if the girls could keep house and cook well
enough to attract a husband (Winnick, 40). Of course Canadian society mocked women who tried to
step out of their comfort zones and try something new that could change the way people viewed
women. Their perception of women as helpless and comparing them to thieves and minority groups
rather than as equally intelligent and capable of the same things as the white men if not more. The
status quo influenced women to stay fit, healthy, and good looking. The media made women think
that the ideal body was thin and that they should be wearing a lot of makeup, but no one wanted
them to be more like men at the time; strong and a
Exclusion As A Form Of Control
Exclusion as a form of control is contingent upon the belief what you are excluding is the problem.
Usually however, what is being excluded, like a criminal, is the symptom of a much bigger
problem (a failing education system, poverty...etc). Additionally, the idea that a human can be
fixed in a psychiatric facility is also contingent on there being one source and one problem that
can be identified and dealt with. Humans are complex, and we can t assume to know how
effecting one part will effect the whole. Again, complexity is disregarded for the sake of the image
that is at stake. The image in this case, is a safe and civilized community. Criminals threaten to
disrupt the boundaries we have put in place in society. By breaking laws or... Show more content on

This is obviously unrealistic, but that doesn t stop us from trying. Disease is part of nature, and on
an environmental level it is a natural form of population control. There is a sort of ignorant
arrogance that comes with being a human in society. We don t try and live in harmony with nature,
and accept death from disease as a natural process, rather we fight nature and do our best to
outsmart it through inventions like antibiotics. We use nature to our advantage when it is
convenient, but we disregard it when it threatens our structures and rules. In contrast, it is worth
noting that war, which also contributes to premature death and goes against society s ideals is
not nearly as obsessed upon. There is no war awareness month like there is a breast cancer
awareness month. The reason for this is because war is much more complex and a product of our
own boundaries. Yes, we say things like war is bad or terrorists are evil but it is exactly that kind
of dichotomous thinking that perpetuates the violence. Actually eliminating war would mean
shifting the way we interact with each other in the world. It would mean not simplifying people to
good and bad, but accepting everyone with their differences. We created war, and it s a product of
the divisive boundaries we set for ourselves in society. Instead of eliminating the boundary we act in
ways that give
