Inbound POSC ( Process oriented storage control )

Business Use Case:

A retail distribution centre receives goods from vendors that require special processing
before they are stored:
• The goods are unloaded
• Mixed HU pallets are deconsolidated
• Price labels (VAS) are applied to certain articles
• Then the goods are put away in final storage bins

End to End Configuration :

Step 1: External storage process steps

SPRO→SCM Extended Warehouse Management→Extended Warehouse

Management→Cross-Process Settings→Warehouse Task→
Define Process-Oriented Storage Control
Step 2 : Storage process-

Assign the external steps to the storage process sequentially based on the flow
i.e : Unloading→ Deconsolidation→ VAS → Putaway
Step 3: Determine Warehouse process type:

As the first step in POSC is unloading, we have assigned the source storage type
as Door storage type ( FADR ) and Bin ( FADR-DOOR-BIN-01)
Assign S1 Indicator in Product master to determine warehouse process type in
the Inbound delivery.

T code : /N/SCWM/MAT1
Step 4: Deconsolidation step
In the current process, multiple products are packed together within a single
handling unit (carton box) during inbound delivery. However, as per our
warehouse operational requirements, these products must be stored separately
in two different storage types based on product characteristics
Storage type Role : Work Centre ( E )
Storage Bin: /SCWM/LS01
Note: 3040 ( Repack WPT ) is a SAP Standard
This is the layout of Deconsolidation table where products can be unpacked and
re-packed.

EASY ACCESS → Extended Warehouse Management→ Master Data→ Work

Center→ /SCWM/TWORKST - Define Master Data Attributes

Assign Storage bin to Work centre

We are following the Rule based POSC

In real-time warehouse operations, repacking heavy and large HUs (pallets) at

the same work centre table is not practical due to ergonomic and space
constraints. The physical characteristics of these pallets differ significantly from
smaller carton boxes, making it inefficient and potentially unsafe to handle
them uniformly.
We have assigned HU Type group ( JNG1 ) Cartons to Source storage type (
FAGR) Stagging area and work centre.
SPRO→SCM Extended Warehouse Management→Extended Warehouse
Management→Cross-Process Settings→Warehouse Task→
Define Process-Oriented Storage Control

WPT : 3060 ( Internal Movement) for Decon step as HU movement needs to be

done from GR Stagging area to Work centre
Rule based should be activated for both steps ( JNG1 & JNG2) Carton and Pallet
Unload step Is also rule based so we need to let system know which Stagging
area should be picked for Cartons and Pallets.
/SCWM/STADET_IN - Staging Area and Door Determination (Inbound)
/SCWM/STADET_ASS - Access Sequence to Staging Areas and Door
Determination

Step 5 : VAS ( Value added services ) Labelling etc

SPRO→ SCM Extended Warehouse Management→ Extended Warehouse

Management→ Cross-Process Settings→ Value-Added Services (VAS)
Create a VAS Storage type

Storage section and Storage Bin

Create a VAS Work centre

/SCWM/TWORKST - Define Master Data Attributes

Create a Packaging specification for Products:

T code : /N/SCWM/PACKSPEC
Maintain the condition type and required attributes.

SPRO→SCM Extended Warehouse Management→Extended Warehouse

Management→Cross-Process Settings→Warehouse Task→
Define Process-Oriented Storage Control

Test case scenario

Step 1 : Create a Inbound delivery with VL31N and pack the parts in Carton Box.
Based on our rule for Carton Box it is determined.
/N/SCWM/MON – Warehouse monitor to track the movement of the HU’s.

After confirming the warehouse order 2 Putaway task and 1 Task for Deconsolidation is
created
It is now available at Decon Work centre

/SCWM/DCONS - Deconsolidation in Goods Receipt.

Confirm the task to move the HU’s to VAS Work centre

/SCWM/VASEXEC - Create Confirmation for VAS

Putaway is completed
