SUMMER FILM CAMP

Calling all aspiring filmmakers! This summer Peter Rosati will be running a Film Camp teaching the skills of writing and creating a short film. Well watch and discuss short films, learn how to write and format a script, have hands on use with camera and sound recording equipment, and act and direct for the camera! This camp is two weeks long. In week 1 well write a script and in week 2, well film it! Filmmakers can sign up for one week, or enjoy both. Who: Were looking for interested girls and boys rising into 6th 8th grade. A little bit about me: Im a film production student at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Ive worked on a number of short films as a director, writer, producer, production designer, and actor. I have plenty of experience working with kids, through programs at the Upper St. Clair library, summer camps, Odyssey of the Mind, Kids Helping Kids, Childrens Theatre at Little Lake Theatre Company, and other film projects. Joining me through out the weeks will be a number of other film students from the Pittsburgh area. Trust me. Itll be fun. Where: The camp will be held at my house, 2319 Morton Road, Upper St. Clair. Week 1 Writing the Short July 30th August 3rd


10:00-3:00 (bring packed lunch)
Filmmakers will be learning what goes into writing a short film (3-6 minutes). Well watch a number of well done short films, discuss, and practice writing characters, scene, dialogue, and action in proper screenwriting format. Everyone will work in pairs to practice techniques and workshop each others work. In the end, the group will produce one final screenplay to be made into a movie in the second week of the camp. Filmmakers will walk away with the knowledge of how to write the short subject. Guests will include student screenwriters from Point Park University.

Week 2 Making the Short August 6th August 10th


9:30-3:00 (bring packed lunch)
This week, filmmakers will focus on making the movie written in week one. Students will learn how to work a high definition DSLR camera (the Canon t2i) as well as digital sound recording equipment. They will also practice directing actors, learn how to act for the screen, organize a shoot as assistant director, and discuss matters of post production (editing, etc). In the first three days filmmakers will have an opportunity to practice directing, assistant directing, cinematography, sound, and acting. We will then assign roles based on interest for the fourth day when we will go on location and film our short movie! The fifth day we will edit the film and complete it! Guests will include Point Park University students of directing, cinematography, & sound.
