Rankine Cycle

Heat Engine or Thermal Engine a closed system (no mass crosses its boundaries) that exchanges only heat and work with its surroundings and that operates in cycles. Carnot Cycle is a cycles which consists of two isothermal and two isentropic processes. Nicolas Leonard Sadi Carnot devised and analyzed the Carnot cycle and became the father of thermodynamics. Ton of refrigeration = rate of heat removal of 1 ton of water initially at 320F to freeze it in a hour. 1 ton of refrigeration = 12,000 BTU/hr = 12,660 KJ/hr

Bubble Point and Dew Point 1) The bubble point is the point at which the first drop of a liquid mixture begins to vaporize. 2) The dew point is the point at which the first drop of a gaseous mixture begins to condense. Txy and Curve) Pxy diagrams (Vapor-Equilibrium

Vaporliquid equilibrium (VLE) is a condition where a liquid and its vapor (gas phase) are in equilibrium with each other, a condition or state where the rate of evaporation (liquid changing to vapor) equals the rate of condensation (vapor changing to liquid) on a molecular level such that there is no net (overall) vapor-liquid interconversion.
