The National Environment Policy, 2006 is the outcome of extensive consultations with experts in different disciplines, Central Ministries, Members of Parliament, State Governments, Industry Associations, Academic and Research Institutions, Civil Society, NGOs and the Public.

The NEP 2006 has been approved by the Union Cabinet on 18th May 2006
The policy contains total six sections The NEP is a response to our national commitment i.e clean E mandated in the Indian Constitution in Articles 48A & 51A(9) strengthen by judicial interpretation of Article 21.

KEY CHALLENGES
1. ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION is a
casual factor in enhancing : Poverty affects their gainful livelihoods Soil fertility Quantity and quality of water Air quality Forest Wildlife Fisheries
2. Institutional failure refering to unclear or insufficiently enforced rights of access to, use of E resources result in E degradation 3. The loss of the E resources can result in certain groups of people being made destitute even if overall economy shows strong growth
4. Policy failures can emerge from various sources including the use of fiscal instruments 4. Any Other Point As When Required To Protect Cleaner Environment
Principles
This policy has evolved from the recognition that only such development is sustainable, which respects ecological constraints, and the imperatives of justice. The Objectives stated above are to be realized through various strategic interventions by different public authorities at Central, State, and Local Government levels. They would also be the basis of diverse partnerships.

These strategic interventions, besides legislation and the evolution of legal doctrines for realization of the Objectives, may be premised on a set of unambiguously stated Principles depending upon their relevance, feasibility in relation to costs, and technical and administrative aspects of their application.

The government has enacted legislation to protect environment and control of pollution to provide better care of human beings and living Beings. The environmental policy of 2006 is guideline for the state to be under taken by different agencies
