HOKIE FLYING CLUB


HISTORY: The Hokie Flying Club is a nonprofit, member-owned corporation based at the Virginia Tech - Montgomery Executive Airport in Blacksburg, Virginia (BCB). The Club was established in 1965 to promote general aviation. At its peak, the Club had more than sixty Members and owned four aircraft. At its ebb, it had less than ten Members and owned one aircraft. Today, the Club is growing, has more than thirty Members with a wide variety of experience and ratings, and owns a two-place Cessna 150, which is intended for use primarily as a trainer, a four-place Cherokee PA-28-160, which is equipped for IFR instruction and cross-country flights, and a Cardinal RG, also equipped for cross-country flights. The roster of Club-approved instructors is outstanding and includes an FAA Pilot Examiner, Cecil McBride.
