1) There is no agreed upon definition of content-based language instruction, with over 35 terms used and diversity in how aims and orientations are analyzed. 2) There is also no agreement on whether the focus should be using content to learn language or using language to learn content. 3) Content-based instruction can be implemented at the curriculum, course, or lesson level and does not dictate specific teaching methods or require solely using the target language. 4) The duration of content can vary from single lessons to sustained content over multiple weeks, and content designs include adjunct classes, sheltered workshops, and immersion programs.

* Combinations

One mix of content and

Content Matrix for Elementary Themebased / Topical studies

Another (my) perspective

Balance of content & English

Based on various factors Possibility of intentionally grading the levels of content and language in a series of courses Dont neglect learner anxiety as a multiplier of all other issues A Gradient Continuum of classes? Content courses just one part of overall language learning program
