Diesel Power Plant Systems

The document summarizes the major components and systems required for a diesel power plant to operate. It discusses the engine, fuel system, air system, lubrication system, cooling water system, exhaust gas system, steam system, and electrical system. The fuel system includes storage tanks, purifiers, filters, pumps and pipes to transfer fuel to the engine. The air system supplies the required air for engine starting. The lubrication system maintains engine efficiency through lubrication and removing heat and particles. The cooling water system regulates engine and charge air temperatures to avoid overheating using a radiator. The electrical system synchronizes electricity production to the grid for dispatch and powers the entire plant.

Steam System

Oil Fired Steam Generator

STEAM SYSTEM
Steam system is necessary for the heat
needed for the fuel system to reduce the
viscosity of fuel as required. Also
required for the purifiers of fuels and
lubes.

Exhaust Gas
Recovery Boiler
Steam system has two sources:
- Exhaust Gas recovery boiler
- Oil fired steam Generator
- Used whenever the plant is on
standby

LUBRICATION SYSTEM
This system maintains the efficiency of the
engine. Main functions are: lubrication of
moving parts to reduce friction, removing
heat from pistons and bearings, carry
away solid particles to maintain the
cleanliness of engine parts.
