SUPPORTING SERVICES
HOSPITAL GASES
Various types of gases are needed in hospitals.
These are 1.)oxygen and 2)nitrous oxide.
These were the problems of decentralized system.
Hence more and more hospitals are turning to centralized systems of hospital
gases. The centralized system is operated from a point where space is provided to
arrange gas cylinders etc.The location of the room should be such as to reduce
piping distance. Copper piping is very costly and can make a difference. It should
be close to wards, ICUs and operation theatres as these areas mainly need
hospitals gases.
A room of about 3x3 to 4.5x 4.5 meters is provided in service area of the hospital.
It should be directly accessible from road so that loading and unloading of
cylinder can be done easily by bringing the vehicle next to the room.
A wide door of rolling shutter should be provided for easy movement of cylinders.
Ramp should be provided for easy movement with help of trolleys or lifting and
carrying manually.
The room and the ramp should have industrial flooring as other type of flooring
may get damaged due to movement of cylinders.
CSSD- central sterile supply dept.
CSSD is a crucial function in any hospital that
when integrated with a hospital ERP helps in
automating the workflow in sterilization of
hospital equipments viz., surgical tools and
instruments, syringes, catheters/tubes/other
rubber goods, lab equipments in various
departments and procedure sets.
LINEN AND LAUNDRY
The objective of hospital linen and laundry is to
ensure:-
Clean and adequate quantity of washed linen.
Supply of linen on regular basis.
Steps to be taken to prevent cross infection.
Location:-
Away from the main service area of the hospital.
Close to the boiler and water heating system.
It is in such a type
BIOMEDICAL WASTE DISPOSAL
TYPES OF WASTE IN HOSPITALS
SEGREGATION OF THE WASTE.
DISPOSAL METHODS.
THE HOUSE KEEPING DEPT.
Housekeeping is the department that deals essentially with
cleanliness and all ancillary service attached to that.
The standard plays an important role in the reputation of the
hospitals. One feels comfortable only in the environment which is
clean and well ordered, so cleanliness is important for health
foremost also for well being.
The fine accommodation and service are provided to the patients
so they are pleased with the hospital. The patients satisfaction is its
primary object and the hygiene factor must always be present in
the hospital.
Housekeeping activity in any hospital provides a clean, hygiene and
safe environment for patients and general public. Housekeeping
comprises of various activities like maintenance of beds in wards,
rooms, operation theatres and OPDs. The various housekeeping
tasks can be planned, assigned and tracked in the module for
housekeeping staff.
Food and kitchen services.
The diet and kitchen feature in the Hospital ERP assists the
hospital kitchen staff to provide meals to inpatients as per the
instructions of the dietician and physician. The dietician works
with the physician to define the diet for the patient. This module
allows for ordering and scheduling of meals, changing the orders
as per dietician's instructions.
Emergency exits.
