DRUM ASSEMBLY
1. DRUM WHEELS
These are moulded in mild-steel or glass reinforced nylon-e engineering plastics. Essential properties of
this is to be light, hard and strong enough to serve its purpose and capable of taking the pressured
effects of pneumatic reverting.

2. SPRINGS
Suitably graded, oil-tempered, custom-designed steel torsion springs. Number and size of springs are
charted according to the size and weight of the shutter.

3. TORQUE-TUBE DESIGN
The Springs are secured to the axle on the one end and the drum wheels on the other end. Top sheet
of the curtain is them fully wrapped and secured around the drum wheels to form a laterally corrugated
cylinder. This cylinder, with spring torsion applied, behaves like a torque tube capable of operating the
door effortlessly. The Amount of torsion can be fine-tuned by adjusting the axle position even after
installation

DOOR CURTAIN
1. MATERIAL
0.5mm-1.5cm Thick profiles roll formed into 600mm wide panels. These profiles are available Plain Mild
steel / aluminum / zincalume panels, Perforated mild steel / aluminum / zincalume panels, Mild steel /
Aluminum security grill panels, transparent shutter slats/ panels.

2. JOINING OF THE PANELS / SLATS


Curtain Panels / slats of required length are joined to the required height by means of point pressure
lock-seaming process/ by sliding one to one to form a continuous curtain sheet, that are designed for
hinge action.

3. STRENGTH OF THE CURTAIN
As with the roofing sheets remarkable strength is achieved through the effective design of corrugations. The I
value (moment of inertia) of the curtain to be min. 30,000mm on both the sides.
4. WIND LOADING CAPACITY
A 3-metre wide shutter is required to withstand wind speeds up-to 42m/sec with acceptable deflection. Wind-Lock
clips can be incorporated where there are higher wind speeds.
5. EDGE TREATMENT
Self-lubricating seamless braided nylon poly-guide running the whole height of the curtain prevents metal to
metal contact with the guides and effectively eases sliding friction. For shutters exceeding 3750mm width, a
tension strip is added to both edges to prevent stretching of curtain corrugations.

BRACKETS
Wall brackets are fabricated from 50x50x4mm mild steel angle welded to the side plate with slots designed to
receive the appropriate axle clamps. Both ends of the axle are mounted on purpose made steel or cast-iron
saddles and clamped into position by steel bolts.

DOOR GUIDES
50x25x2mm U Channel or extruded Aluminum profile guide sections which are strong and neat in appearance.
Guide-type selected according to the application.

BOTTOM RAIL
Full Length of specially extruded aluminium or Mild steel section lock-seamed onto the bottom of the door curtain.
Bottom-rail also features two slots to retain a seamless PVC finned weather seal to keep out dirt and weather.

LOCKS
Doors exceeding 3.5m are fitted with two locksets, one on each side if the door, in generally doors are fitted with
pad-bolt lockable slide-bolt installed at the ends of the bottom rail. Locks have finger grip recess for lifting or
closing the shutter
