SCOPE OF NID If we look at the current scenario in India we can count the number of design schools we have on fingers. We have the NID at Ahmedabad and IDC at IIT Powai. IIT Kanpur. IIT Delhi IIT Guwahati and IISC Bangalore too have their own small design departments. These design schools are not enough to cater the needs of 1 billion people in India and several billion people abroad. AIM To develop design curricula which best support the development of the creative industries in India through the nurturing of talents, and which can adapt to support a through train for design education with emphasis on fundamental knowledge and skills, while promoting a closer synergy with secondary schools and collaboration with regional and international institutes.
