Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows F-1 students to gain practical work experience in their field of study before or after completing their degree program. There are two types of OPT - pre-completion OPT allows part-time work during school, while post-completion OPT allows up to 12 months of full-time work after graduation. Students must apply for OPT before or within 60 days of completing their degree. The application process involves filling out forms, paying a fee, and providing documents to demonstrate eligibility.
