Magalang

Magalang is an ancient town located in the western side of Mount Arayat in Pampanga province. It was established by the Augustinians in 1605 at a place called Macapsa, which was later moved to San Bartolome. Magalang has a population of over 113,000 and is known for culinary specialties like kamaru biscuits. The town celebrates its fiesta on August 24 in honor of its patron saint San Bartolome.

Town Fiesta

• When Magalang was transferred to its present site, people


brought with them their patron saint.

• The town fiesta, observed on August 24, is the feast day of


San Bartolome (St. Nathaniel)

• Several months before the fiesta, people would raise pigs (one
for lechon and the other for the meat to be prepared with
different “putahe” like morcon, asado, menudo, relleno,
estopado etc. Days before the fiesta, the houses are being
cleaned with “pakiling” leaves.
