Characteristics of Ideal Paint

The document outlines the characteristics of an ideal paint. An ideal paint should uniformly spread as a thin film with high coverage and good workability. It should be durable, impervious to air and water, and cheap and economical. An ideal paint sticks well to surfaces, seals porous materials, gives easy and homogeneous workability, and protects and decorates surfaces with a sufficient coating thickness that dries quickly. After drying, it should protect surfaces from weather impacts for a long time without losing shine and remain unaffected by surface expansion or contraction due to weather changes. The paint should also be crack, flake, moisture, and fade resistant and have a constant color for a long time.

• DURABILITY
• IMPERVIOUS TO AIR AND WATER
• CHEAP AND ECONOMICAL
TYPES OF PAINTS USED IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
• A paint will be said good quality if it sticks well to surface along with the
ability to seal the porous substrata
• It should give easy and homogeneous workability.
• The thickness of the paint coating should be sufficient to protect and
decorate the surface very well.
• The paint coating should dry quickly .
Example:

A water-based paint that dries to a satin finish. It

resists flaking or peeling because of its flexible
capabilities. Can be used indoors and outdoors on
multiple surfaces. It is touch dry in 30 minutes and re-

approximately 12-14 square metres in 1 coat.

• Water based & quick drying in approximately 30

minutes
• Low odour
• Flexible satin finish
• Resists flaking and peeling
• No primer needed
• Can be used indoors and outdoors
• After drying completely it should be able to protect the surface from
unfriendly weather impact for long time without losing its shine .
• Should have sufficient elasticity to remain unaffected by expansion or
contraction of the surface due to change in weather.
• It should be check and crack resistant flake resistant, and moisture
resistant
• The color of a paint should remain constant for a long time .
• It should not fade quickly.
